Asik or Monroe next to AD? Who would you prefer and why?
I guess I'd go Monroe out of the two. Asik would just clog the paint and sort of puts Davis out of position. At least Monroe has some flexibility..

Have we even considered that Demps is thinking it'll be much easier to move Monroe..
He might finally have somebody willing, or desperate enough to take on Gordon.
Make the deal. Get rid of the guy you haven't been able to, then flip Monroe for a piece that fits better and/or picks.

You aren't getting Monroe for Gordon.
...and ask yourself why the Pistons would trade Monroe to the Pelicans, then let them "flip" Monroe for a much better package than what they got? They would just deal with that 3rd team directly.

You could trade a Gordon/Anderson package for a Monroe package and potentially free up some room to add a guy like Ariza or someone similar. You would probably still have room to sign some bench filler also.
Gordon/Anderson could be a nice fit with Deteoit also.
Detroit:
Jennings
Gordon
Smith
Anderson
Drummond
Pelicans:
Holiday
Evans
Ariza or some other 3&D
Davis
Monroe

Why is everyone so desperate to unload Anderson? He is a solid player on a nice contract, yet everyone keeps wanting to throw him into deals.

I think people keep throwing him in because realistically teams don't want EG and the only way we would get rid of him would be to package him with Ryno
I would be hard pressed to find anyone that solely wants to get rid of Ryno
At the end of the day I believe for a lot of people:
Disdain for EG and his contract >> Love and desire to keep Ryno

Im not really sure people will want ryno with the bad injury he took.I much rather keep Gordon if meant keeping ryno the dude is a beast there has to be a way to get rid of Gordon, why and the hell did we even match that dam offer...

This. I'd rather have Gordon for one more season than get rid Ryno to move him.

Pretty much this
We all love ryno

Well I feel we could run Evans at the SF spot, but everything I have read they don't think so. Then you also have Rivers who is a solid bench player.
So the only way to move Gordon for a big time impact player is most likely throwing in Anderson. Depending where we send them if they return a big time player and maybe some cap space for a FA that would be a solid move IMO.
I kind of wonder if Gordon/Anderson would be horrible for a Monroe/Ariza type deal.
Anderson is one of my favorite players on the Pelicans.

And at what point did I say it was straight up??
And we might have the best deal for what they're looking to do with their squad. You can't be that dense. It isn't that uncommon in the NBA.

Yes, trades happen in the NBA.

What you guys have to understand is... nobody fricking wants Eric Gordon.

in his current state I agree, but if he agrees to void that last year, he turns into an expiring with enough talent to fill the bucket. Then he becomes an attractive piece for a team that has the cap space and wants to make a run.
Detroit, unfortunately does not fit that description. Their goal is to turn Monroe into other pieces that fit their long range plans. I just can't imagine any GM thinking Gordon fits in any long range plans given his recent health concerns, attitude, and production vs contract.

If he pretty much becomes an expiring like jeebus says than yes some teams would have interest.
It's not like he's gerald wallace

I think it would take 3 years @ at least $20M ($6.7M per) to be taken at all seriously by him. I'd think it would actually be closer to $24M. He's due $15.5M. He could almost certainly find a 2 year contract @ $4.5M (takes you to 3 yr/$20M). If he plays the way he has, he could very well get 2 years for $8.5M ($4.25 per).
Would a team want to give him that 3 year deal @ $8M per year? Then you have to work out a trade.
Posted on 5/26/14 at 5:57 pm to Galactic Inquisitor
from purely an economic standpoint, why would he do this? He could easily ride out this shite contract and collect 2/3s of your total 3 yr deal in the last deal of his current contract. Then he could easily find a buyer in the 6M dollar range for 3 seasons, and that is a lowball contract imo.

He wouldn't...he isn't opting out of that last year, it is insane to think otherwise.

I think Gordon will probably make $8+ million/year on his next contract, but I don't think it makes sense for him to opt out.
I don't think anyone in the league would be terribly upset taking Gordon if he had a contract like Jrue.
