Well at least you are aware how you come across. You came to the OT and gave details about being a mother hen. We all know men whose moms were overbearing and/or overprotective and it never helps a man later in life
I think you were spot on, and she's crawfishing. Starting to feel sad for the kid, and I'll never lay eyes on him.

Yes he has to take the interstate from Highland and its a damn mess! I am afraid of him getting in a bad wreck! I know it can happen anywhere but IMO he chances are greater dealing with B.R traffic daily!
I did that for two and a half years. We lived right by the interstate, and I had no problem getting to school. Perkins Rd is the way to go.
The fact that you want to switch his schools because you don't like the drive is ridiculous. Catholic is a way better school.

I agree with this and I have zero affiliation with CHS. And if the long daily drive is such an issue then you could always move. You knew the distance when you sent him to CHS.

If you don't mind write any complaints about my comments on a piece of paper! Fold the paper , bend over and stick it up your arse!

at least you get to fold the paper, anyone else find it incredible that this girl isn't married?

I knew the distance but didnt realize the traffic was that bad ! What is so much better about Catholic? Is the education that different?

how about teaching the lad that when you start something, finish it! you're talking a finite time period here

It's shocking. She comes to a message board to ask parenting questions and bc she gets questioned about the way she comes off is everyone else's fault. And for the record I didn't critique you, I simply asked a question. Your irrational response speaks volumes.

Apparently you don't read the OT very often. Also, I guess you missed my subsequent comment wishing you and your family well. Presumably you were too busy typing the over-the-top rage filled reply above. Chill out lady, it's a message board. Your angel has a lifetime of commutes ahead, as well as other unforeseen things that his mommy can't save him from. Jeez, you are scary.

I agree. Switching schools at that point would be tough for most kids. Stick it out for the final two years. Especially if he's doing so well at CHS. WHy mess up a good thing?!!!???!!!??

Let me ask you this: What made you choose Catholic in the first place?
If those reasons are still valid and he's doing well at CHS, then don't move him because of traffic.
Catholic does have a better reputation than St. Michael's, and they probably have more National Merit scholars and higher ACT/SAT scores. Are the class offerings similar at both schools (availability of AP classes, etc.)?

If you and your son do not value the opportunity, move him. I am sure someone else would gladly take his spot if the opportunity was given.

It surprised me how this wasn't true

I researched both schools a few years ago and Catholic was the best out of the 2. The classes are about the same at both schools. Also, some of my friends that grew up here says there's not much difference(their kids go to St Mikes) between the 2 schools.

I lived on the same street at St. Michael's, still went to Catholic and would so the same if I could do it again.
Has it directly affected my job opportunities? Probably not since I work out of the state now. But Catholic definitely prepared me for college. College was a breeze compared to catholic. It really just depends on your son - doesn't really matter where he goes. I wouldn't transfer him over though, but I'm probably biased.
