Is it legal to use a trolling motor in the LSU lakes?

Just outfitted the canoe with a trolling motor and I thought I might take it to the lakes for a test run. Is this something that is forbidden?

Seems like I remember a full fledge bass boat in there with the motor up. They were using the trolling motor. Of course that doesn't mean they didn't get in trouble.

No gas powered engines are even allowed to be touching the water. Trolling motors are fine.

I knew a guy who used to back his boat into the Dalrymple launch and run his motors while still on the trailer, when they hadn't run in a while. This was 30 years ago or so and it wasn't legal then. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Just make sure it's registered. Trolling motors means it has to have numbers and all that other b.s.

I do not believe you can have any form of motor running in the lakes, even a trolling motor. If you could, don't you think everyone would be out there all weekend?

I used to go in LSU lakes all the time with a bateau with Trolling motor and never had any issues.

You can run a trolling motor out there, the sign clearly says no gasoline powered engines. But I guess with my logic you could run top fuel out there too so there's that. I wouldn't worry about it, fake like your heading to the overpass then double back to BR beach and you'll shake the fuzz.
