Just one week after the 60th anniversary of the first sub-four minute mile, Louisiana may make its own history in the classic race.
Hathaway graduate Jarrett LeBlanc will try to become the fourth Louisianian to break four minutes for a full mile Sunday (May 18) at the 7th Annual Meet Under the Lights at St. Martin's Episcopal in Metairie.
At 1,609 meters, a full mile is slightly longer than the more commonly contested 1,600 or 1,500 meter races. LeBlanc ran a personal record of 3:43.77 for 1,500 meters on April 26, which converts to 4:00.22 for 1,600 and 4:01.6 for a full mile.

I don't consider it history when you're the 4th person to do something

Where/what the hell is Hathaway?

Pretty sure there have already been 4.
Shannon Lemora, Ryan Travis, Daniel Lincoln, and Jeremy Huffman
I remember running against Ryan Travis. He had hypoglycemia really bad, so he'd eat several Snickers bars right before races. I didn't know about his health issue until later, so I tried to mimic his Snickers routine but that only backfired on me

I'm pretty sure the first 3 who did it all post on the OT

More than 1,000 people have broken a 4 minute mile.
I am sure there is at least one OT'er that has done it backwards.

Is this suppose to be difficult. I'm not a runner and without really trying I run a 7 min mile pace on my first two miles out of a 10 mile run.
Maybe I should go all out and try to do this.

Placed 2nd in a road race to this guy when he was a Jr. or Sr. in high school. Tried to run him down the last mile, and when he turned around and saw me coming, he took off like it was nothing.
All I could do then was just say "Holy shite!".![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Jarrett LeBlanc ran his mile in 4 minutes and 1.3 seconds. Fastest mile ran by a Louisianian on Louisiana soil.

And to think Roger Bannister did it on a dirt track. While going to medical school full time.
