I am old school low tech,
2-4 paperback books depending on flight length.
Writing paper and pen
Disposable foam ear plugs
Eyemask like the airlines give out to cover eyes when sleeping
Comfortable clothes
Snacks
No batteries or chargers needed, can give away the books as they are finished leaving little to carry around, its all cheap so I don't worry about stuff getting lost or theft.

3 months ago I traveled to Thailand and was on a plane for a ridiculously long time. The following things were lifesavers...
1) Tablet (with pre-downloaded books and movies)
2) Comfortable headphones
3) Homeopathic pills called No-Jet-Lag
4) Comfortable clothes
5) A light jacket or hoodie even if it's warm outside

The longest flight I've done is 14 hours. I suggest bringing your own headphones to watch movies. I was surprised with the good selection of movies offered in flight. I'd also suggest a neck pillow and a book.
That's really all that I needed and the flight wasn't too bad at all.
