2013 critically acclaimed movies (RT critics) - Just watched Inside Llewyn Davis

Just about every critically hyped movie was disappointing this year. AND I'm usually a fan of 12YAS, Llewyn Davis type of films.
I haven't seen Nebraska or Her. Other than those, what a shitty year for movies.
I think Blackfish and The Book Thief are the two best I've seen. I know Gravity fanboy will come on full force and I didn't dislike Dallas Buyers Club, Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle, etc.
But the more I see Rotten Tomatoes ratings for movies, the more I think critics nowadays have just sold out or are just terrible.
For reference,
A movie talked about on here: The Shawshank Redemption (1994) has a 90% on RT.
12YAS 97%
American Hustle 93%
Hunger Games 2 89%
Inside Llewyn Davis 95%
Gravity 97%
Green Mile (1999) 80%
That shite is laughable.

Yeah it's pretty cool. The way it is show it feels like you're going on one of those old 3D rides at a Disneyworld or something.

At least 30 minutes too long. Otherwise it was good.

I've been able to see more critically acclaimed movies than ever before this year.
I have seen all those that were nominated for best picture, and have to say Her was my favorite.
Inside Llewyn Davis was good, just wasn't my favorite.
Agree with what is said in here about American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street. Wolf of Wall Street was the perfect "bro" movie but it did run long, and I don't have much desire to see it again.

Sometimes classic films take a while to make their mark known. Films like Psycho and It's a Wonderful Life weren't highly regarded by critics until years later. The same goes for somewhat more contemporary films such as Fight Club.
Then you have films like The Shawshank Redemption that were highly regarded by critics upon their release but not recognized by the general public until years after the fact.

It was a great year for movies. Nothing I saw was flat out amazing, but plenty of very watchable flicks.
Eta...I'd give it a solid B+...but admittedly had a limited sample size.

What theater in BR shows art-house movies?

I couldn't even get through Inside LD. And I love the Coen Brothers, usually. I just didn't really care.
The problem is that critics get too caught up in style. Very few movies that just have great style stick around as classics. In the end a great story and a tight script is what gives a movies traction, even though it is a visual medium.

I was fully prepared to love American Hustle. I'm a big fan of all the actors and Russell. It just didn't do it for me.
