It has been years since I last saw this and all I could remember was how disappointed I was upon it's initial release. Watching it years later does nothing to change that. "So that's what death tastes like." Really? Bale doing the Batman voice the entire movie and having John Conner's balls cut off with the higher ups doubting him did not help matters. Don't even get me started on how Worthington is half man/half machine. I will say that Anton Yelchin was a nice surprise.

I didn't think it was a shitty movie at all.

Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but maybe since the barometer of how bad a Terminator movie can be is T3 I'm being overly nice to Salvation.

Hard to believe that movie is 5 years old. I remember going to see it.

Terminator 3 > Terminator: Salvation.

The original concept for Terminator: Salvation was far more intriguing than what we got. It was originally supposed to be the first of a trilogy of films that detailed the rise of the human resistance against the machines. What we got was a hybrid of the original concept and a lame idea which involved Sam Worthington's character.

The whole thing was just a cluster of epic proportions. It's been almost 5 years since that movie came out and I still get disgusted just thinking about it.

I've got my superior opinion as well as critics on my side:

Terminator 3 has a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an average score of 6.6/10

Whereas Terminator: Salvation has a 33% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an average score of 5/10.

There is absolutely nothing good about Terminator: Salvation. Nothing. At least T3 had Arnold Schwarzenegger and Claire Danes.

Since film critics are the end all, be all....

They also liked Avatar and I hated that film. To each their own.

I prefer T3 to this even though it was a retread of the previous movies and had star glasses Arnold. I hate when films plan a trilogy before they know the box office returns. It's okay to plant seeds in the movie should future installments develop but I can't help but feel they held back on this one wanting to save things for the sequels that never came to be resulting in an inferior product.

The scene in T3 were Arnold is hanging from the crane and is being driven through the buildings is one of my favorite action scenes of all time. I saw it in a theater though with surround sound the way it was meant to be viewed.

If T3 started from the last half of the movie and continued with the story, it would have great.

I'm not going to try to say Salvation was a great movie or anything, but at least it tried something different. T3 is literally the exact same plot rehashed yet again, only this time with much worse writing and a penchant for self parody. It's trash.

Yeah T3 was garbage. The only thing they gave us was the Skynet take over. Like a another poster said, at least Salvation tried something different. It was far and away better than T3.
