Because you don't want a reliever facing a situation where he can give up the tying hit in an inning that you started with a 4 run inning. If Broussard get put in with the score 4-0 and one guy on, he can make one mistake and still easily close the game out. The situation he was put in tonight gave him very little room for error

That it hurts your chances of winning when you walk the leadoff guy, misplay balls in the field, miss the cutoff man, allowing a runner to take an extra base and throw to second when you have a chance to nail a runner at the plate. Did I miss anything?
