I'm having some cognitive dissonance with this thread since I've never had cable (I live in the woods).
I get DTV, no special packages and I get 15 college football games every Sat during Fall.
I get 2 cell phones ...wife and mine.
I get DSL internet.
All of the above are handled by AT&T. I get 1 bill a month for all of it .. $200.

That's believable. I'm guessing you have the "Select" TV package, DSL that's no more than 6 Mbps down, and a cell plan with not much (or no) data.
My after-contract U-verse price and me and my wife's cell plans combined are $280.

Can I record shows that come through antenna, without a cable dvr?
A pc with Windows Media Center will do that handily and even give you a free on-screen program guide just like the ones on cable and satellite.
If you've got an XBox just buy a Microsoft media remote for about ten bucks and you're in business.

Could someone please explain how this works?

The cordcutters reddit has an excellent wiki/guide.
Google "r cordcutters wiki"

All these cable cutters that say they save money but use someone else's creds to get hbo and ESPN are worse than welfare users.
what? why?
for HBO, the HBO subscriber gets to use HBOGO on 3 devices, if my sister wants to allow me to use one of her subscription devices, how is that even remotely close to what you said?

I cut cable - well, I actually kept basic cable because with internet it was only an extra $5 per month which was cheaper than buying a new TV for the bedroom with a digital tuner.
I only use antenna for living area (HD), but still have a cable hookup which also gives me access to ESPN 3.
Bill went from $119 to $59.

Has anyone in here completely cut the cable cord?
Yes.
I will bring it back when football season starts. Then I will fricking cut it again after LSU and the Saints finish their last games. That's all cable has to offer as far as I'm concerned.
Buy a good antenna. The quantity and quality of digital broadcast far exceeds that available 20 years ago.

Where can I find one? How much do they cost? My apartment complex had been paying for cable, but due to cox raising the prices on them, they stopped paying for it. I'm trying to do a cost/benefit analysis on whether or not I should get cable TV when I'll be moving out in just under 3 months. Cox hasn't turned off the cable yet, so I'm still looking (i.e. I want cable, but I don't want to pay $60/month for it just because I like ESPN and CST)

depends on what you need, how far away are the towers, etc
I have this antenna and pre amp and I'm able to pick up all channels. Most of my towers are 19 miles away, but NBC is 37 miles out. Also depends on how long of a run and how many times you split the signal to determine if you need a pre amp.

a 1-time $100 expense was a lot cheaper for me, as I was paying $130/month for TV before

Wow, you got that from the quote you posted? I thought you would have at least picked that up from the fact that I was/am trying to get rid of cable. But that was probably too much thinking for you.
You are trying to get rid of cable by stealing. I hope data caps bite you in the arse.

So how much did you pay for the internet?
Also, how long do you guys really think it will take until the Cable networks force ESPN to figure out how many different locations ESPN3 is streaming from? I'll bet they are working on it now.

How is he stealing? Most of these logins allow you have to multiple devices, if someone you know allows you have use one of your devices as one of their logins, how does that equal stealing? That person is paying for those logins.
Call it mooching or whatever, but it isn't stealing.

Yeah it actually is. It's per household and is non-transferable.

As another said the login is for the household. It is a service for the cable subscriber to access what they have paid for remotely. As another said I am paying more for cable because of cord cutters stealing product.
