ill never leave LA because i love it here
That's kind of how I feel about Tennessee. Born and raised in Nashville and have been in Knoxville at UT now for three years. A big part of me though feels like I should step out of my comfort zone and experience more great places in God's Country of the South.
Only been to LA twice in my life, both during Mardi Gras the past two years and I was accompanied by a native Louisianan both times. It blows my mind how different that state is culturally from the other Southern States. And I mean that in a good way, I really find LA a neat state but I'm not sure it fits my personality to live their full time. My friend at UT from Louisiana grew up outside of Baton Rouge and he told me everyone starts drinking at like 13 and it's not really frowned upon

I lived in Nashville for 20 years, moved to Atlanta 2 years ago.
Atlanta >>>>>>> Nashville
Atlanta >>>>>>> Nashville

In what ways in your opinion? I'm honestly interested in knowing.

I tried to think of a city in Mississippi that I would like but was unable
For me, I am not ever gonna live anywhere west of BR in the state. I would also never consider St Helena or Washington Parishes

Outside of NO, where I'm from, I'd want to live in:
North Carolina (in general, anywhere)
Savannah
Charleston

LOL wut? The opposite is true.
I'd steer clear of Little Rock and look at Fayetteville if Arkansas is even in the equation.

Texas Houston or Dallas. Both economies are in full boom. You will not find a better standard of living vs cost of living in the world.
But then you have to live in Texas

Baton Rouge or die!
Seriously though Nashville is pretty sweet. Charleston is solid too.

Dallas just has too much urban sprawl and faceless subdivisions to be interesting to a young college grad.
Charlottesville, Virginia is a really awesome town, but you'll get the OT started on the whole "Virginia isn't Southern" debate.
Or, and this cuts against what you're looking for, you could move to a city like Boston or Manhattan. People up north dig the Southern charm. Not kidding.

I consider Texas as it's own place. Not really "Southern" if you know what I mean. Plus Texas is kind of like Tennessee's science project. Tennessee natives Davy Crocket/the other Volunteers and Sam Houston started that thing. You are welcome, Texas.

Atlanta intrigues me as well if I got the right job opportunity. I grew up on ATL baseball so I would love to get some Braves season tickets, especially since they are getting a new park away from the congested downtown area. But honest to God the traffic and volume scares me about ATL.
If you live near where you work in Atlanta you'll be alright, for the most part, especially if you live and work in town.
Atlanta is a great place for young people. Soooo many good looking women here. Cost of living is low vs other large cities. The food/drink scene is getting better and better all over town. You can just about get anywhere in the world from the airport.
I hope you do realize where the Braves are moving is the worst place in the entire city every day for rush hour traffic? It's going to be an absolute clusterfrick getting around there on Braves game evenings. I don't like it, because I live in town(Decatur) and it takes me about 15-20 minutes to get to the stadium, but I understand why they're moving north, however, the area they're moving too is really, really bad with regards to afternoon/evening rush hour traffic.

Maybe you've been hanging with the wrong crowd in Little Rock. Mobile just sucks
With each of those cities, you need to take a look at who you are and figure it out from there. Different types of people and atmosphere in each one

From Atlanta, wouldn't include it most likely, although it is a fine place for opportunity.
My list would be (no order):
Nashville
Asheville
Charleston
Chattanooga
Dallas
Austin
My secondary list of common choices that would be fine but that I have one or more significant issues with...
Atlanta (traffic, diminishing good suburbs, transplants)
Birmingham (has nothing on Atlanta or Nashville, really)
Mobile/Daphne/Fairhope (Mobile has issues, Daphne is fake Fairhope, Fairhope would be fine if you're ok living in AL and are ready to settle down)
Savannah (too hard to break into, plenty of bad areas, not a lot of opportunity)
Charlotte (better than Birmingham but still no better than Nashville, some professions excepted)

I was born and raised in East Arkansas and lived in LR for 5 years. I think I have a better feel for it than some dude from LA who spent a weekend there one time to watch LSU-Arkansas.

Mountain Brook is pretty cool, but it's also expensive to live in. Not sure if it's suitable for a young professional who's probably going to be living in an apartment but it's a cool town.

Live in the city. Dallas has more opportunity for in town affordable and nice housing than any city in the country, IMO.
