I don't have a problem with playing the backups last night. The game was played backwards, though. Mainieri could have played the starters 5 innings and jumped all over Alcorn then played the backups. While LSU should have been able to beat Alcorn with their backups this game was too important with Alcorn's incredible RPI to risk putting themselves in the position they found themselves in after 5 last night. These guys are 20 years old. They don't need days off like MLB players playing evey day. They can rest today and tomorrow if they need it.

LSU's hitting is finally coming around, too. If LSU would have taken care of business without the starters that would have been almost a week without swinging the bat in a game. It's almost May and the team is getting hot at the plate. It might not be best for the team to sit down the hot bats for a week and give them a chance to cool off.
