Got a letter in the mail today, They're Closing for good April 29 but at least they gave me refund for $1450 dollars which is in all likelihood a mistake since I only have 6 months left on my contract. Should I call and let them know they made a mistake?

Not surprising. It was really expensive.

I had a free membership there but never went.

Yes. They were trying to do the right thing so you should do the same.

you are very lucky....most of them keep it really quiet until the last day and literally pack up and leave overnight...you just go to workout one day and find an empty building...

I agree with 480...they tried to do the right thing and that deserves some good karma from you in return....

You can give the extra to me. My wife and I signed up for a "pay upfront for two years get one free" promotion. We still have like 7 months left on both memberships. They didn't refund me anything and when we asked why they said they "we are treating the third year as your free year so you aren't really losing anything". I told them I paid for a three year membership and only received two and a half and asked how that wasn't being screwed. I also told them I would have never agreed to pay for two years in advance if that wasn't the deal they were offering. They told me they would look at my contract again and call me back tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath.

You should call them because they WILL notice the accounting mistake eventually and ask for the money. However, you could alway invest it, wait until they ask for it back, and profit.

Not surprised. I worked there for a summer a couple of years ago. On the first day the guy that was running it (name escapes me but short chubby guy) told me to go outside and look at the cars parked out front. Said we cater to an exclusive clientele and they pay extra to keep the "trash" out.
