You will a year or 2 from now

Why not?
Lewis is a starter. Champ is a one year stop gap, if that. Corey White is a good 3rd corner, but I'm not sure he's an everyday starting CB. No idea what PRob will be when he comes back.

It all depends on PRob IMO. I actually think he'll be one of our breakout players this year. He's got lots of talent around him and won't be in a confusing zone scheme like under spags.

I agree, if Robinson can step up and take that #2 spot, then we'll be set. Champ has 2 years left maximum and at 36...he might be nickel material. I've seen enough of Corey White to think he's a 3rd cornerback at best(nothing wrong with that though).

I wasn't referring to champ, really.
I've seen white improve all the time.
And Robinson is close.
With Bailey's instruction, I really feel like these guys can do it either next year or the year after.

Why trade up in one of the deepest drafts in the past 15 years? He's not a shut down corner like deion or pp7.

Dennard is great. It would take too much to get him I'm afraid.

Dennard might be there in the 20's, so the trade up may not take that much.
This is what would determine it. No, we're not dumping half our draft picks to get in the low teens.
However, if pick 20 comes around and he's still there, I'm making a shite-ton of calls. This secondary goes to world class with him, second only to Seattle!

#NoFlyZone.
He technically was a shutdown CB...Teams didn't even want to throw his way...He still got his INT's though.

I would love to give up our 1st and 3rd to grab him. I hate the idea of getting a 2nd tier WR at #27. I'm really hoping we do this or stay put at go CB (maybe Fuller).
I pray every night we don't draft Lee at #27. There are WR's I'd rather in the second round than Lee.

First of all did you see champ bailey and Corey white over the past two years they are questionable talent. Bailey has been getting burnt and Corey white looks lost at times.Dennard is by far better talent then both of them and the best corner in the draft. If we could trade to get him and give two fourths to do it we need to pull the trigger.

FA corners are expensive and even if Robinson or White do show off they would be hard to retain.
We definitely need to draft a young one somewhere in this draft to develop for the future. Plus, it's a good idea to get a rookie that will have 2 years of a Bailey mentor ship.
I don't think it's a 1st or even a 2nd or 3rd round need. I think when the value matches is when we should take one(same with WR).

Last year he was hurt and Fox even admitted they rushed him back too soon TWICE.
He's not shutdown level any more but he's still a hell of a lot better than most teams' number 2 guy.

LINK Numbers in decline for Bailey, Robinson is fragile like glass and White is inconstant. We need to draft a corner and the best one in this draft is Dennard. The other corners in this draft are just not in the same league as Dennard or Gilbert.Teams threw the ball away them and they still got theirs. But I trust Dennard over Gilbert .

What numbers are in decline in 2012 compared to the prior few years(hell, for most of his years)? They all look on par to me.
Like I said, he isn't a shutdown corner anymore and he doesn't have to be with us. He just has to be a solid two, which he is more than capable of.
While it would be nice to have two shutdown corners(or borderline shutdown), it isn't worth mortgaging a ton of other picks for. We can use future help at so many other spots that it's not worth it.
Lewis is here through 2017 so we have time to find another top corner without forcing the issue. Take the value as it comes.
Edit:
Doing the math, he averages about 3.5 ints, 9.5 pds, and 46.5 solo tackles. Keep in mind he had 2 outlier seasons of 8 and 10 ints that raised his int average.

I'd be willing to be this is the first time ever someone has said absolute stud and Aaron Murray in the same sentence.
