What is the Poli Board's opinion of EBR District Attorney Hillar Moore?

I believe he is up for re-election soon but have not heard anyone announcing running against him.
Is he a good guy?

His dad was a Force Recon Marine and made Sgt. Maj. So he comes from good stock at least. But that's all I really know.

I met his dad once at a business function. He was probably in his late 70's then. He still looked and carried himself like a marine. Heck of a nice guy, too.

Always been pleasant with me, I went to law school with his sis. Huge LSU fan (cough Jeremy Hill).

He's overtly aggressive toward prosecuting LSU players, even when he clearly has nothing that resembles a legitimate case, if that means anything...

No. His office huffs and puffs and then everything works out.

Skip Bertman is listed on Moore's campaign/fundraising committee, fwiw.

Socially, he is a great guy. Always very cordial. Professionally, he's tough, but reasonable. We could do a far cry worse.

I've never heard anything bad.
Which is more credit than I can give for most politicians.

I guess I'll send in a check to his campaign in that case. I'm not sure how I got on his mailing list.

I've conversed with him on a few occasions and he was nice and sociable. He didn't present himself as the DA and I didn't even realize he was until afterwards.. He is friends with a few attorney friends and they all claim him to be a good DA who is also willing to work with people.. In the fact that he is more concerned with serving the needs of the citizens rather than making examples for the sake of it.. I've never dealt with him on any legal matters and I'm sure that some attorneys have both good and bad experiences with him and the office he runs.

He told the EBR Sheriff to stop making unconstitutional arrests over unenforceable sodomy laws last summer. A public official not willing to violate the constitution on their own accord is a pretty nice thing.

I don't know but his son mumbles a lot.

I like him a lot. He doesn't get too political, try to over-step his bounds, or abuse his power. I know these things should be expected, but you know how it often goes.
He was a big proponent of the BRAVE program, which seems to have been successful so far. He's pretty visible and seems to stay engaged with the community.
I also get the impression that he works hard and keeps himself well-educated regarding crime prevention theories.
