I see a lot of people saying this pick or that pick would be bad for us because the guy wouldn't start his first year. Aside from that being short sighted, I was curious which player at 27 could come in and start for us.

We are a very veteran team and I'm not sure I see anyone outside of Mosley if he fell or a center if we reached that could be an every down starter.

Offense
QB: Brees
HB: Thomas/Ingram/Robinson
FB(part time starter): Lorig
WR1: Colston
WR2: Stills
WR3(part time starter): Meachem/Morgan/Toon
TE1: Graham
TE2(part time starter): Watson/Hill
LT: Armstead
LG: Grubbs
C: Lelito
RG: Evans
RT: Strief

Defense
DE1: Jordan
NT/DT1: Bunkley/Jenkins
DE2/DT2: Hicks
OLB1/DE2: Galette
ILB1: Lofton
ILB2(part time starter): Hawthorne
OLB2(part time starter): Haralson/Butler
CB1: Lewis
CB2: Bailey
CB3(part time starter): Robinson/White
FS: Byrd
SS: Vaccaro
S3(part time starter): Bush

Looking at who's expected to be at 27 and who we have, at best I see a guy breaking into a time share position.

I think this year more than ever we really should go full on BPA at whatever position is ranked the highest need in the bubble, be it guard, receiver, corner, linebacker, quarter back, half back, or whatever. I could even see getting a guy like Lewan if he fell for whatever inconceivable reason.

Really? I thought we were pretty young actually. Especially on the defensive side of the ball...

Only position I see would be an OT as a true "starter", but plenty guys could see field time on the majority of snaps.

I think with any WR we might take, while maybe not listed as a "starter," would definitely start some games and get as many snaps as the starters.

It isn't about starting to me, its about what player can contribute the most at a high level.

Would a Fuller/Roby/Verrett be a bigger contribution per snap compared to OBJ/Lee/Cooks/Matthews?

We have 1 true hole, Center. We have no clue who will fill it up, no one on our team has NFL experience in it. It can be filled in round 2-3 without it being a reach.

Other than that we have a slotted starter everywhere else if we were to start today. Where can we upgrade with pick 27? WR#3 and CB#2.

Any first round pick should start, I think its expected that all first rounders be an instant contributor.

I could see a CB or LB taking a starting spot

Champ is old and Butler has to prove he can do it every week. If Mosley is there at 27 he coudl easily take over for Hawthorne

but I get your point and I agree that they are in great shape heading in to the draft

Jordan Matthews comes in and plays immediately. Very polished and is a every down WR in the league. Smart kid that knows how to run excellent routes and has some of the best hands in the draft. Also super clutch. Other WRs in the draft either need time to develop and improve at certain things, or they aren't every down players early on. Matthews is ready to go now.

It would be Colston, Matthews, and Stills as the deep threat with Graham.
