I work with contracts for a major company.
Just met with the owner of a specialty company that we need and it is just going to be rough for the kind of skilled worker they provide because so much shite is going on everywhere.

He did mention your big Lake Charles project in that they are hearing a rumor that when the construction starts, per diem might be paid across the board to everyone as well as good wages to get the people they need. That kind of stuff starts a chain reaction with other companies having to do the same.
Could be BS, but this kind of stuff has him worried.

Exactly. Companies are going to have to pay top wages/per diem to attract and KEEP craft. If not, they will be jumping to the next job for a dollar more.

Yeah, I fully expect wages in this area to skyrocket because of competition. I'm pretty sure I won't be in the contract side by then.

But I do hear things...and plants are holding off right now as far as pay hikes for contractors. It's more of a "who makes the first move" sort of thing" right now. With all this construction work going on soon, maintenance contract workers are going to be making more than anyone has ever made by then.
