tailgating for Wisconsin-LSU in Houston (only four hours??)

Forgive me, oh wise Rantards, if this has been previously discussed, but I searched The Rant and found barely anything related to this topic.
From the moment I found out LSU was playing at Reliant (NRG) Stadium, I wondered if they would relax their "FOUR-HOUR-RULE" which has been in place, I think, as long as the NFL's Texans have been around. The gates to Reliant Park are closed until four hours before kickoff. I've visited friends who tailgate for Texans' games and many of them dislike this rule. But they are NFL tailgaters, a far tamer breed of pre-gamer than CFB tailgaters. And of course, not even remotely comparable to the LSU tailgater [tigris maximus partaay].
Obviously, a four hour rule equates to less-than three hours of tailgating, when you factor-in the time to park, set-up, and then the securing of items and the walk into the stadium. I think most of y'all would agree that for a Saturday game, the opener of college football, on Labor Day weekend, in a fun, dynamic city like Houston... that under three hours of tailgating is laughable for LSU fans (and probably even for the beer-brat-toting Badger fans also). And for an 8pm kickoff, that means that tailgating won't begin until ~4:30pm (for those of y'all that find a parking spot quickly and set-up fast). I'm thinking many of y'all are expecting to be tapping the SECOND (or third) keg by 4pm, NOT being allowed in the gates at 4pm.
But Reliant/NRG seems to disagree with your plans. I can also tell you that driving on I-610 (South Loop) before 8am on Sundays, there are LONG lines of cars on the feeder road awaiting the opening of those gates, and their chance to get to the prime tailgating spots (for noon NFL kickoffs).
Ok, so does this rule apply to non-NFL games at Reliant Stadium? Good question...

Ok, seems cut and dry, right? Or is that "unless otherwise noted" an important caveat?

oops... I posted too early...
What to do?? I don't know, but perhaps if enough of us send polite (or griping/demanding) e-mails and make lots of phone calls... to the right people... maybe NRG/Reliant can relax the rule? I don't know. But good idea!!!

I'm sure a lot of the oil and gas companies will be setting up tailgates to entertain clients in town for the game. Seems like they will want a little better return on their investment than 4hrs.

In Dallas (2011) we got in the parking lot by 10 AM and we weren't the 1st
In 2013 we were in the gates by noon

But...I thought they decided to have the game there for the fans? I am very confused.

I absolutely hate this rule. It didn't always used to be this way. Before this rule Reliant was a consensus as one of, if not the, best NFL tailgating experiences.

The 4 hour rule exists because Texans fans are a trashy bunch. I hope they relax the rule for this game.

We will Party downtown in the AC at the tons of bars that will have gameday festivities until 6ish. Then hop the train to the stadium and join the sweaty sheep who think there's only one way to do things. Baaaaaaassaaaa!
