They both had good talent coming in...whats the point?

The point is to shut Samso up. He's the one that keeps acting like Saban worked a miracle and Les just lived off Saban.

Love the guy. Most people who complain about him don't watch other teams play and only read about Bama in the papers (and then compare stats). If you watch football as much as I do, you'd know other teams suffer same coaching blunders/mistakes. Only LSU fans won't let it go.

I think winning a national championship in your third year at a school that hadn't won one since 1958 is a borderline "miracle".
People here always say "remember the 90s". The worst period in LSU football history to national championship? I am not convinced Les Miles could have done anything close to that.

I prefer to say, "remember the 6 yr period coached by MA and CH when we won 25 games and talented players were leaving the state by the car loads".
GN stopped that no matter the disappointment of his final 2 yrs.

I agree!
And I think leading college/SEC football in wins for the last 9 yrs while playing in the SEC at a time when the SEC is the most powerful college conference in the NCAA "is a borderline "miracle" as well. You do understand that LSU has never had such success as that in 120 yrs....right.

Miles is a modern day Lou Holtz. He's an odd, quirky fellow that the players love, gets solid results and the media gravitate to for some juicy sound bite.
He has turned recruiting around since he's been here and to think that is a direct result of Saban is ridiculous. Nicky had success here and that has a small effect on recruits, but you dion't come to a program because the previous coach was good and they won "then".
Miles' best seasons are ahead at LSU because he's recuited well, revamped the coaching staff and he's building a stable legacy.

So anyone else has any reasons they like/dislike Miles besides the fact he isn't Saban?

I'm a Miles fan. Your list is a good one except...

Miles is the best I've ever seen at this. He almost never loses against over-matched teams. This year's Ole Miss game being the rare exception.

Are you just not getting what my point is, or are you intentionally deflecting?
Bottom line is Dinardo left Saban a ton of talent for Daban to make that championship run. Just the same as Saban leaving Miles a ton of talent. There is basically no difference with the exception of Miles following a coach that knew what to do with the talent.

Some dislike Miles because they would run the LSU program way better than Miles does.

Thinking that anything going on with the LSU football program is related to a coach gone almost a decade is laughable. The fact that any other coaches name even comes up in a discussion of Miles after the period of time he has been here only showcases the degree some are willing to go to in an attempt to find anyway possible to devalue the remarkable LSU success of the last 9 yrs in comparison to what went on at LSU in our football history. imo
The list of college football programs who have struggled in some degree after a successful coach leaves is long and contains some big time programs, but, to this point in time, and after a decade it doesn't contain LSU in its membership.
