frick Churchill. I quit watching. They are so full of shite.

Anyone who makes a living based off of fair grounds (or, I'm guessing Calder) feels the same. I would love for more people to come forward with stories.

I'm also very eagerly anticipating whatever improvements they make at the track by November. Very happy louisiana would only approve a conditional 1 year license to them. Put up or shut up time.

I've been anticipating commanding curve since he was still on the outside of the field. Then I watched his work last week and it put me on the fence.

He got very tired working a slow 5f in 1:02 being asked down the lane with his ears pinned. He also swapped leads a few times in the stretch and galloped out in a horrible 1:18. After seeing the other works from the day I'm not sure what to do with him. He's apparently not a good work horse, but worked a nice 1:00 last week. The slow time doesn't bother me as much as the brig asked and the swapping off.

As for wicked, he could also duck on or out from the crowd. He melted down on holy bull day before the race. I will watch him walk over before putting any $ down.

Wow. Rosie got screwed on the draw. Vicar IS IN TROUBLE. Wicked got screwed on the draw. Rajiv will have to use him up quickly or drop way way back, and R.M. can't win that way. Kind of helps my thinking. I've been solid with Samraat and Hopportunity. Believe they will be there. What to do about Chrome???????

Aspy, I guess you know that LAD has cut its purses and the number of stakes races for this season (including the Super Derby purse). A state congressman is trying to cut the racing dates to increase the daily purse structure to attract better horses. Don't know if this will work.

Makes me think that even with Harrah's running it, LAD can't compete with the south Louisiana tracks. I still don't understand why LAD can't make it considering the slots money and Harrah's ownership. If Harrah's can't make it succeed, I don't know who can.

Would be a shame if it shut down.

I know

I think the other casinos kill lad. I'm glad gantry made the switch back to grass because they cut the temperance hill out. Ill be up there more this year than last so I guess I'll get a better feel for things.

Any thoughts on the derby?

Vicar can't get the distance anyway. I know I'm supposed to cheer for the la bred, but he'll end up being a nice middle distance horse like the rest of the into mischiefs.

He struggled home in the la derby and was helped when intense holiday started cross cantering.

Rosie'll win the oaks again, though, but im really loving Rosalind again.

I had a dream last night that the oaks winner was a chestnut down the center of the track . Number 5 in my dream. Woke up to see chestnut thank you marylou as the 5. Ill put a few on her just in case I turn out to be psychic

I agree with Panther and like they way Cal Chrome ran and finished up in the SA Derby. However, I will take a look at the horses who can rate just off the pace and see who is peaking at the right time.

Who are your favorites in the Oaks and Derby?

I'm still waiting for some generous person to email the PP's.

The comments about his gallop worry me. They said he didn't look great :(

Hoping it was the mud.

I really think untapable is a super filly but like Rosalind too.

As for the derby, I'm hoping to start figuring things out tomorrow.

Any particular reason you don't like Chrome? He beat some pretty nice horses in th SA DERBY. He seemed to have a lot left at the end.

Just because he'll be the favorite and I just think he may have run his best race in Cali. Those guys are Cali trainers, they ran the horse at 2 at least initially like he was nothing special. No other reason. Taking my shot.
If he repeats that SA effort - he wins. He's improved tremendously at 3. It would be cool to see him win in many ways - the Shermans are regular joes and are pretty interesting people. I just won't be on board this time.

LA D's problem is that they don't get many good out of state barns, so they split everything with EvD and Lonestar (speaking of dropping purses) to some extent.
Casino gambling killed that track. They used to fill up with Texans betting off tip sheets. I loved that place in the 80s.

I miss you guys. The new job has really killed my horse playing. I didn't even make it to Keeneland for the first time in my life.

i been looking at pp's and races of contenders.

I think hopportunity is sitting on his bounce or a big race.

california chrome got the dream trip, that's the trip u want at SA, into slow fractions, sure the 22 4/5 was little steep, but a 47 flat isn't exactly hauling arse at SA. And hopportunity put away the rest of field and stayed even down the stretch, once chrome got his lead turning for home. Reminds me of monarchos race, heading into derby. Baffets horse got the dream trip on a conveyor belt and monarchos still come running and held his ground. Then shot by them in derby, when conveyor belt was not an issue.

You guys all do this a whole lot more than I do, my wife grew up loving horses and always watched the triple crown races... Naturally I started wagering on them. I have a simple routine of watching YouTube videos of all the prep races and getting a feel for what my eyes tell me before I get into the numbers. I loved Wicked Strong coming into today but the draw probably did him in unfortunately, he isn't fast enough out of the gates to get in decent position from the outside, so he will have to pray he gets a decent lane from the middle to back of the pack, my eyes tell me he has the best kick at the end but I'm not sure we really saw everything Cali Chrome had in the tank down the stretch.

Not much love in here for Danza? What are your opinions on the top two finishers from the Bluegrass Stakes, Dance with Fate and Medal Count? Will love to see the speed numbers and splits whenever I get my hands on a sheet.

Love chatting with yall this time of year

Husband loves Danza and I keep stumbling back to medal count, if that helps you any ill probably use him in something. He and candy boy are the two I keep tossing around.

I would take dance with fate home. He's GORGEOUS. His 2nd in the front runner on dirt wasn't awful, I just can't bet him.
