Assuming no debt or family, that's about $3,000 per month take home. Assuming you rent for $750 that leaves $2,250 for food, gas, car insurance, entertainment, etc. if you can't live well on that you're doing it wrong.

I made 2250 take home right out of college per month and was fine

I had an apartment at 750 and no car payment though

when i graduated undergrad, I lived comfortable on about $15k a year. But coming out of grad school, I made $65k or so and I lived like a king. I lived the largest then, especially since I had zero debt and lived in a cheap city (rent was $700/month).
