Good caddies are instrumental in providing correct info and knowing when to support and when to offer a suggestion. They are also part psychologist. Good ones are worth a lot if you are a good player. The best caddie in the world can't make a scrub win.

He'll OUIMET won the us open with a 10 yr old as his caddie

Can't help but wonder if caddies actually help the golfer or just serve as a distraction from all the pressure/someone to talk to/hold their hand.

Having caddied at a semi-pro level, they help. Big time

I basically told him what kind if shot to hit and where. It took care of all the variables, he took care of the controls. That's what they do, minimize the variables the players have to navigate.

Lol. The caddie knows exact yardage to slopes, bunker carries, doglegs. Where to miss. Everything that the player needs to know so they don't have to think too much and take up time.

I know. They are there for administrative tasks like bunkers, divots, etc. also there to tell the player what they need/want to here and scope out talent for post round activities
