Big Bend is next up for me. When is the best time to go?

December, a good buddy that does Moto Rentals in the Smokies, goes down there for December and has rentals if you like to explore via Moto. Big moto rally during Christmas time there as well.

I am not overly impressed with it, it's different, but I wouldn't put it on the top of my list.

Alaskan parks are just meh for me. I lived there for several years and been to a few of them. I like Denali and Kenai a lot though. I think living there unwillingly (parents) has a lot to do with my dislike for Alaska though.

I've been in January and it was pretty damn cold. I've been in July and it was 120 degrees. Spring was better.

I've camped there in May twice and it's already pretty hot. Over 100 by the river, not so bad up in the Chisos basin. I'd say March is probably your best bet. Or maybe October. It's a good national park, pretty much one of a kind. There is less light pollution there than anywhere else in the country so the night skies are incredible. It's about as isolated a place as you can find.
