Is my sarcasm meter broken? They're a publicly traded company, they care about profits.
Yes they are publicly traded but they do not care about profits. They are really the only company I can ever think of that has had hypergrowth for 20 years and never turned a profit. ALL they care about it growth.

Will this be carrier subsidized? Can I get it unlocked? Will keep tabs on this as I look for a new phone in the coming months.

Yea I think he misunderstood what you were saying. Amazon could turn a huge profit if they wanted to. However, like you mentioned, they chose to reinvest 99% of their profits into growth and development.
It's why they're gonna rule the world one day.

Pretty soon everything will be owned/made by Google and Amazon.

That's how the majority of growing tech companies work. Apple didn't start paying a dividend until fairly recently. 50 of the 100 Nasdaq stocks don't pay any either.

True, but Amazon is a bit of an extreme. Their P/E ratio right now is so ridiculous it's hard to even evaluate them like a traditional stock.

They net over $70 more annually per prime user compared to non-prime users.
