LAS VEGAS (CBS Las Vegas/AP) — Militia groups are rallying behind a rancher whose cattle are being seized by the federal government.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that two militia members from Montana and one from Utah have arrived at Cliven Bundy’s ranch.
“We need to be the barrier between the oppressed and the tyrants,” Ryan Payne of the West Mountain Rangers told the Review-Journal. “Expect to see a band of soldiers.”
Payne said that militias from New Hampshire, Texas and Florida are likely to join and stand with Bundy and stay at his ranch.
“They all tell me they are in the process of mobilizing as we speak,” Payne told the Review-Journal, adding that hundreds of militia members are expected.

The current showdown pits Bundy’s claims of ancestral rights to graze his cows on open range against federal claims that the cattle are trespassing on arid and fragile habitat of the endangered desert tortoise.
This should be the article's lede.

What angers me most about this article is the amount of force the federal government is using. Even if they are right and his cattle are trespassing, doesn't mean they need 200 agents and snipers with their guns pointed at the ranchers.
Also read the guys son got tazed.

The government said Bundy owes about $1million in grazing fees, but it is going to cost the taxpayers approximately $3million to round-up the cattle.

I can sympathize with their stance but I hate when people pick fights with someone and then, when they get tossed, they scream, "I've got cancer!" Don't start no shite, won't be no shite.
If multiple militias show up, this could become explosive.

overzealous fed gov't, fed agents, against a group of folks who perceive the gov't wronging them. Feds have 200 people, including snipers on hills.... over cattle grazing.

So basically the only similarities are the feds being involved. Or do you think the feds should have left David Koresh alone and ignored the child abuse in the compound

The similarities are an aggressive federal agency against a group of people who believe they have the moral high ground and don't look like they are going to back down. With more people who identify themselves as militia members arriving soon, are you unable to see how a potentially explosive standoff could form?

No, I see it. I just dont think cause of the conflict is similar.

He's got a pen. He can avoid any confrontation if he wants to.

I don't think anyone is implying the cause of conflict is similar. We are referring to the type of conflict.
