Sasol is planning on building mancamps in the area to house the abundance of labor.

I'll never go in a kayak in Big Lake again. Rough as hell when I went and I'm not in shape enough for that

Anybody that pays that is a dumbass

I don't know exactly what houses you're talking about. My house is off Country Club about 1/4 mile east of Cormies and I pay $680 mortgage

Just sold mine for $113,000 so yeah, I wouldn't rent for that kind of money. Hell I'm buying a pretty nice house and my mortgage will only be $1400.

Yeah I agree. I'm in the process of building a pretty nice house and my mortgage will not be anywheres near 1600$ a month.

The mortgage isn't the problem, it's the money you have to put down that makes buying a house difficult.

If you can afford $1600 a month for rent, you can certainly save up the $15,000 cash to put 5% down on a $150,000 house plus closing.

You do realize how much $1600 a month should get you around here? I better be on the frickin lake or golf course for that

I was in the first graduating class from MSU. Glad I never started in the field. I'll take where I'm at now any day.

It's going to be a while before Sasol does anything. And when they do it will be a little bit at a time. I've been working at Sasol and it's not going to boom like people think it will

What's that mean?

I don't expect it to "boom" within a few months. I understand that it'll be a couple years to be honest.

South of sulphur in the carlyss area. Near big lake. Good prices. Other place would be moss bluff/ragley north of lake Charles

Anywhere outside of LC city limits qualifies for rural financing.

From what I've heard, flood insurance is pretty expensive down there these days.
