Thursday night, Friday morning, or earlier this week when they knew the likelihood of bad weather was strong. Pushing it back is a lot easier than pushing it forward. Who would that have hurt? People get to tailgate for longer.
eta: they do this all the time with baseball. God forbid they do it to a glorified football practice.
