Another thing that REALLY helps is a bedtime routine that you stick to and don't break. Bath, play, story, brush teeth, bed. I've been told that a routine is crucial and have seen the results. We did it much better with the second one. Now at bedtime I walk into his room and put him in bed and walk out. He's fully awake and never cries. Been like that since he was about 10months.

This. We stuck to NOTHING. that is why at the very moment Captain Cock Block is in between the wife and I. He is 4. I will let him know that nickname when he is 24. He may still be laying here at this rate. We are apparently raising him redneck style. Still awake. All that's missing is a trailer, Cheetos, and a Marvin the Martian t-shirt.
