I have a massive bee hive in a tree in my backyard. This happened overnight. How do I get them to leave.

I'm in a neighborhood, so diesel/homemade flamethrower is out.

IS that a pecan tree? Didn't think they'd budded out yet.

Roll up a newspaper, light it and pass it under them.

it's not a hive it's a swarm
Leave them alone and they will eventually find a place to move in to

They are just about harmless right now. If you must have them gone call a bee remover and he will capture them and move them in to a hive

No fire?

Dare neighborhood young human to throw base kernel at hive in exchange for snickers
Watch from inside your house

Call a bee guy. Seriously they come and get them for free.

Check out on line bet there is a bee dude close. They are weird though. The guy that came out after the hive that got in my wood duck box put the thing in his cab of his truck and drove off with them buzzing

That's a swarm not a hive. It's the way a hive reproduces. The old queen and several thousand worker bee have left the old hive and they are looking for a new place to live. Scout worker bees are out looking for a new place to start a hive while the colony literally hangs out. Usually it only takes a day or so and the scouts will return and lead the colony to a new cavity to start a new home.

Thanks for the serious responses. I think I'll let them be for a week. If they're there next weekend, I'll call a bee guy.

I guess my dog is ok back there.

Get you one if them tyvek suits and build a good smokey fire under them.

Got up there and get that honey son.

Oh and they don't sting at night

ETA: keep the hood rats away from that thing.

ETA: looks like it's be fun to blast them with a shotgun.

If they're honey bees, keep them. Liquid gold.
