What is the worst part of Detroit? I see on Google Earth some abandoned buildings on Woodward, but what neighborhoods and streets have a lot of blight?

I've been to Detroit. It has a lot of run down areas and relics of an extremely prosperous city/middle class that has come and gone.
However, many run down areas of the south have never had that great time and thus have far less to abandon. Baton Rouge probably has as much abandoned shite per capita (mostly in North BTR), but who cares?
Some of Detroit's suburbs are actually still very nice and well laid out which was surprising to me. Having said that, there's no way I'd ever live there.

Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana was named after him as well as the historic Hotel Pontchartrain in New Orleans, as was Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit in Michigan (the site of modern-day Detroit) and Detroit's historic Hotel Pontchartrain.

I will say the airport is really nice, so you can remove that from the map

work with a guy that moved from DET last year and he said seriously its like a war zone and 3rd world country. its 90% black and you have to carry a gun everywhere.
I wouldn't move there for a 500k/year job.
imagine living there with that climate? no thank you

That dumb line in that song is wrong, because there really is no south Detroit, due to what Trey said (Canada) and the south part is basically called Downriver and just a little bit white trash, but decent communities. Right downtown isn't bad and midtown near Wayne State is doing great. IMO, it's sort of a tie between Highland Park (north of midtown to about 8 Mile), East Detroit before you hit the Grosse Pointes, and Southwest Detroit (though the Mexicans keep that from total disaster).

All these abandoned buildings that are being demolished...
Someone has to own them right? Obviously they can't get anyone to rent them out, but shouldn't they be maintained even if vacant?
