How many of yal played football? I played from 8 yrs old through HS and can count on one hand the number of guys I know who got concussions. I can think of once or twice of having my bell rung but thats about it. With more info and awareness about it today than in previous years, the concussion problems can be greatly reduced. Plus its not until the college and pro ranks that the frequency of it becomes really major. Not saying it doesn't happen in HS and LL but not nearly as often as the college and pros.

i think youd be surprised what might qualify as the type of hit that can produce damage, especially when repetitive.

I played from the ages of 7-18. I only had one but it was a big one, happened in the 11th grade.

I threw a good block on a punt return but I didn't know about until I saw it a few days later when we were watching the game tape.

i do remember barfing a few times during the following days

but seriously, it did suck from what I remember. The coaches didn't even let me play in the last 2 games of the season. I practiced the last week and thought I was going to play but I got held out of the game. I was mad about it at the time but now looking back, I knew that it was for the best.

ended up having a better 12th grade year so at least I went out on a good note.

This x100

Parents worried about their 12 year old getting concussions are ridiculous. Concussions don't start to happen until about the high school level. Middle school kids aren't near big enough or hit hard enough to generate concussions. Hopefully by the time a kid gets to high school, they will be smart enough to be able to make their own decision
