The NBA needs to have a three year removed from HS rule like the NFL. If they're smart, they'll use college as a farm league, and ditch the D-league.
I'd suggest it needs to be more like college baseball.

Stop being so sensitive. Jeez
You take a chance with those elite athletes. Who knows if they are going to be 1 and done. I dont think you can realistically ask a 17-18 year old to give you a 100% honest answer on whether or not he is going to stay for 3-4 years if the NBA is knocking at his door. His dream is to be in the NBA.

No, that's not really the point...It's getting those elite athletes to stay and develop skills, leadership, and teams that will lead to National Championships

That's a pretty good idea.

Except the NBA doesn't make any money off of the NCAA. I don't know the financials of the D League but it would make sense for the NBA to expand the D - League and make it more profitable rather than let the NCAA profit.

Which is leading me to pose the question on whether that risk is hurting the powerhouses? If the NBA were to make a 2 and done rule or the 3 years removed rule of the NFL, would players like Wiggins, Parker, et al. dominate the tournaments?

The NFL doesn't make any money off of NCAA football, but they benefit from allowing college coaches to develop players, and it allows them to see which elite players are busts.

Just beat an undefeated one seed. They already have a championship thanks to one and dones.

Syracuse
Has 1 one and done and nobody thought he would be a one and done coming into the season. Carmelo Anthony kind of worked out for them.

Kansas
They would still be playing if one of their one and dones hadn't gotten hurt.

senior driven teams like Florida are dominating
For every senior driven team like Florida still in contention there's 5 senior driven teams sitting at home already
Are you trying to say these teams would have been better without Paker, Wiggins, Embiid, or Ennis? What a terrible thread.

Maybe this year, but in the last 10 years the powerhouses have done pretty well.

Obviously the more time a player like them stays in school, the chances of them dominating the tournament goes up. Experience goes a long way.
Still cant stop recruiting these kids because someone is going to pick them up and when they happen to stay for more than 1 year, a coach like coach K will get an ear full for not recruiting him. Its a lose lose imo.

IMO, Neither Duke nor UNC will win anything until they get some guys to stick around 3-4 years. The last 2 national championships those specific teams won, was full of upperclassmen.
same for kansas. kentucky hit a freaking mother load in 2012 but i dunno if that's gonna happen again.
next year, kansas is probably gonna start senior, sophomore, freshman, junior, freshman. i don't know how good they are going to be, but i think that's "experienced" enough to win it all looking strictly at age.
the thing is, wiggins as a freshman is better than a junior brannen greene or something. a freshman jabari is better than whoever duke has on the bench developed another year or two (implying that they would be getting the game minutes jabari is and then come back).
they are not hurting their teams. it just so happened that they didn't win the title. they could have, but they didn't. it's a tournament. they lost.

nah, keep it as is or just let em come out at 18 like it used to be.

they've actually expanded the D league in recent yrs, and more NBA teams have their own D league team. so I don't see that happening unless something drastic changes.

Well get ready. It might not be a 3 year rule, but a rule change is coming. These 19 year old kids are watering the game down at the pro level. For every Labron that was ready to play at a high level, you have a lot more busts, and kids who are not ready to play against grown arse men.
Posted on 3/24/14 at 10:55 am to Spaulding Smails
Players should be allowed to go straight to the NBA but it they enroll in college they should need to wait 3 years, just like baseball.

Actually his dream is to be rich. If the dream was really to be in the NBA, players would have been flocking to the NBA straight out of high school and one yr of college like they are now from the beginning of time. But with the contracts the way they are, that is why they are leaving. Not because it's their "dream". They are looking to get paid, so they can pay their posse/family.

I am suggesting they are hurting their teams. I just said, they aren't going to have the experience to win the tournament unless they have several upperclassmen who are experience and can produce.

Is that an NCAA rule or an MLB rule?

Basketball is not a contact sport, so it doesn't make any sense to have such restrictions, except for that it will make more $$.
Keep in mind that you're limiting freedom when you do this.

D-league won't get ditched. One of the bigger arguments for letting athletes go "one and done" is because they are going all-in with basketball as a career. The possibility of a career altering/ending injury is too scary to these kids who, for the most part, don't have much money to begin with.
I'd love to see a 2 and done rule instituted but I really just don't think it's fair to these elite players who are risking their careers while not making any money.
