Prolly because south coast is an ale and thus carries more fruitiness and other associated flavors, but it certainly is hoppier. Abita "Amber" is just a pedestrian take on the Vienna lager.

Vienna lagers are relatively ho-hum to begin with when compared to other contemporary craft beers, but I wouldn't call Abita's interpretation pedestrian at all. It's not something I drink often, but it's a well made beer, imo.
