I was going to give you reasons why our military should be downsized and DOD funding cut by 42-45% but still maintain a very large and powerful navy but then I thought that yeah, you're just an idiot who wouldn't understand my post so I quickly came to my senses.

Well by all means, carry your arse. Go live in one of those shite holes for a while, and then let us know how terroristic the U.S. is.

We should have the real one photobomb the propaganda movie.

frick it!
First, my basis of knowledge. Someone in my family has server in every war the US has fought, my father did three tours in the Army in the infantry in Vietnam and retired with 28 years service as an E-9. Myself joined the Navy after the 1st gulf war broke out and served on the USS La Salle (AGF-3) stationed in Bahrain.
Second let me end your first argument, the men and women that serve our country today do so at the will of the commander in chief. Yes that is what you are complaining about, but whether you agree or not, IF the commander in chief chooses to use the men and women serving our country for such wars then they should be provided with the tools they need both during and after they do so.
If you want to argue something it should be "stop getting in to unneeded wars" if that is your feeling. By God if the are going to war I want them to have the best that is available while there, and when they come home the support they need. My father still wakes up with nightmares from Vietnam. He has 80% hearing loss from the sound of gunfire. He has many other health issues that may or may not be related to Agent Orange. When he joined he was promised lifetime health care for free, and guess what they have broken that promise along with man others to make room for this reduced military.
I got out of the Navy because of Clinton's draw down, it was almost impossible to make rank. IMO if you want a smaller military stop using them as the worlds police force

In modern United States Navy carrier air operations, Carrier strike group (CSG) has replaced the traditional term of carrier battle group (CVBG or CARBATGRU). The Navy maintains 11 carrier strike groups, 9 of which are based in the United States and one that is forward deployed in Japan. CSG or CVBG normally consist of 1 Aircraft Carrier, 1 Guided Missile Cruisers (for Air Defense), 2 LAMPS (Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System) Capable Warships (focusing on Anti-Submarine and Surface Warfare), and 1–2 Anti Submarine Destroyers or Frigates.[2] The large number of CSGs used by the United States reflects, in part, a division of roles and missions allotted during the Cold War, in which the United States assumed primary responsibility for blue water operations and for safeguarding supply lines between the United States and Europe, while the NATO allies assumed responsibility for brown and green water operations

Started in engineering and cross rated over to DK a class that has been combined with PN now. Nothing more hostile than a spouse when the pay is messed up.

I made it to E-4 and with Clinton I said frik it and left after my first four years (I wish I would have stayed.)

Yeah I read that story earlier. One reason why they might be building it is so they can drag it out to Iranian waters and blow it up as part of a propaganda film for the Iranians so I guess they can try to convince them that they can, and did, sink one of our carriers?
