The funny thing about electric cars is they are still powered by fossil fuels indirectly for the most part.

Good to know. I like this one and personally find it on the "mild" side. I'll probably stay with this brand but will plan on having it and a more smokey/woodsy flavored one on hand when that's the sort of mood I'm in.

EV manufacturers are laughing their asses off all the way to the bank

Making a killing on each purchase, knowing full well they are using fossil fuels to recharge their batteries. Therefore, not really changing anyones carbon footprint

I commute a little Over 320 miles a week and that's if I go nowhere but the office and home. I spend about $30 in gas (about 2 abd a half tanks) and that's me buying high octane gas. frick an electric cage.

This is what really galls me about electric vehicles. Government (and liberals) is trying so hard to make these things out to be something they are not. Too expensive, and they don't do nearly the work that a modern internal combustion engine driven car can do.

Take a gallon of gas. It occupies nearly the same volume as a regular 12 volt battery. Now see how much work you can get out of each.

A gallon of gasoline(or diesel) will power a nearly 2 ton vehicle at 70 mph for 20 miles easily, and will do it for hours on end, in air-conditioned comfort.

Try doing that with a 12 (or 24 or 48 volt) battery. It can't be done.

And yet the "green" morons will try to tell you that the internal combustion engine is obsolete. What a bunch of hooey.

You can't get a battery half the size of the vehicle to do that much work.

Same for Teslas?

Batteries are batteries. You can't change physics/chemistry.

Tesla batteries are temperature controlled. LINK

They still have some difficulty in extreme cold, but not as much as you'd think.

I don't think people are hating on the cars, as much as they are hating on the people that drive them.

Not sure about that. When we had those "Tesla car catches on fire", a bunch of people were like "LOL SEE THAT'S WHY TESLAS SUCK! THEY'RE BLOWING UP EVERYWHERE! GAS CARS 4EVER!" Never mind the fact that there were only 3 incidences out of a couple thousand, one which was caused by hitting a wall at high speed.

I drive a Nissan Leaf.

May sound gay, but with my corporate discount, the $5k Georgia income tax credit, and not having to pay for gas, it's basically paying me $50 to drive it every month.

I've owned a '08 Infiniti G37s and an '08 Audi A4... not nearly as fun to drive as the leaf. Laugh all you want, but no car goes 0-30mph faster, and you can drive like a bat out of hell because you don't have to pay for gas. I call it the guilt free gas pedal...

If you've never driven an electric car, don't knock it before you try it. Once they make better looking, longer ranged cars, it'll be a no brainer.

Haters gonna hate.

I own a Prius and have never noticed a drop in mileage in winter. I assume the report pertains to fully electric, which I am seriously considering. BTW, I never get less than 50mpg with the Prius.

I drive my leaf about 40 miles a day (since I got it last October) and have 50%+ battery left when I get home. Only suppose to get around 74 miles on a charge. Think that 60% number is bullshite.
