Agreed, but I'm not trying to rock the boat too much. Some people are very touchy when it comes to this issue.

My brother-in-law just purchased one of the more expensive Prius models because he's going to have a long commute at his new position. He thinks it's going to save him money. He will NEVER recoup the additional cost of that car over a similar gas vehicle. Then again, he's happy with it, so I'm keeping my mouth shut.

Went with 12 - Did not want to commit to a 15 or 18 without trying the 12 out first --- def not a high roller here. Would love to give it a try though. This was the first bottle of scotch ive ever purchased. As my wife was rolling her eyes I was thinking I could really get into it.

I drive 100 miles a day. I bought my Prius used. And it's still worth what I bought it for 2 years ago.

yea I understand. 12 is usually my go to, but for a special occasion, 18 does the trick.

I'm more of a single malt guy (macallan) but blends are solid too, like dewars (go blue label, but even white label is good for being inexpensive) or johnnie walker (go black label, splurge for blue label for special occasions, stay away from red and green labels). chivas regal is probably one of the best of the more popular blends.

glenlivet is a lighter single malt that's pretty good as well. it's a lot less oaky/woodsy than macallan, a little less burn too.

all of these are pretty good starter scotches for determining the basics of what you like before moving on to the more specific tasting stuff.

Um, I'm not attacking hybrids, bud. I just said that you will have to drive it a long time to make up the difference in sticker price between a Prius and a gas vehicle of a similar size. My brother-in-law's Prius cost $30K.

I know they hold their value pretty well, but you've put over 70,000 miles on the car and it hasn't lost ANY value? Congrats on that.

Got a 2010 for $15k with 28k miles. I'm at 107k now. Toyota keeps sending me emails offering that amount.

My point wasn't to argue. Just point out there's a way to avoid spending the extra 5k.

Bought from a cousin in New Orleans. I don't know what they got it for. I financed through them to get a better deal. Then refinanced immediately through my credit union.

Until I can get in an electric and go as far as I want, whenever I want, you can keep 'em.

The bleeding hearts equate any criticism of these cars as "hate", but the reality is exactly what you stated. They are just too limited in their current form to be a real, mainstream alternative.

Last thing I drank before I got food poisoning one night, first thing to come up. I can't stand the smell of scotch anymore.

As for electric vehicles, people love to hate on them. Although I make my $ in O&G, I love the Teslas and would buy one in a heart beat. Not necessarily because it's an EV but because they're pushing the envelope further with the automated integration of the entire vehicle.

Rode in a tesla Tuesday. Unbelievably badass. Climbed back in my Tacoma and felt like I had gone back in time 20 years.

When the midsize comes out I'm in. It ain't about being green. That thing is pure badass. 0 to 60 in 4 seconds and a 3G screen console the size of an iMac.

Yep. I still think one of my favorite things about it are the door handles.

People who think Teslas are just a fancier Prius are missing out. Instant torque with plenty enough power. It feels and IS quick as hell. Combined with up-to-date modern technology on the inside to tie everything together.

If they came down on the price, or even if a gas powered vehicle would step their game up, I'd be a happy camper.

I commute a little Over 320 miles a week and that's if I go nowhere but the office and home. I spend about $30 in gas (about 2 abd a half tanks) and that's me buying high octane gas. frick an electric cage.
