And LSURussian bows out of the arguement to doubleb, knowing he doesn't even have anything more to add to the arguement except for personal jibes (like this) which are erroneous and makes him look like an a$$ (like this).

It's a legit point. There are 6,250 employees of EBR school district. There is absolutely no way a single person can know what shenanigans every one of those individuals might be up to at every moment of every work day. The Supt's blame will come about depending on how extensive the problem truly is and/or if there was any way he could have known about it
6,250 employees and 42,850 students in the system. That averages out to 7 students per employee.
You'd like to think they have enough people to determine if a kid has enough credits to graduate. But that's me.
Seriously, no way can Supt. Taylor know everything in his system, but by now he should know if a student graduated who shouldn't have since the auditors told him who they were.

In January it was known the state was going to do their audit as a response to a whistleblower's complaints.
What this means then is that the school board has to wait on the state's findings. They can't start their own proceedings because there could be issues of impropriety unless the school board is using an outside, independent source. They won't spend that kind of money though unless the state's investigation turns up something. Since the state's investigation turned up something, now they can proceed with their own investigation AND have a solid direction to start in.
Back to my point to Russian though, no one can reasonably believe that deciding on who is going to handle the investigation/review on the school board's end will happen in a vacuum.

How are bus drivers, janitors, cafeteria workers, etc supposed to know a given child's grades? There may even be a rule or law against the school system divulging that information to such employees (privacy laws, laws about minors, etc). This puts your math waaaaaaay off.

I'll agree with that considering the qualifiers.

And everyone seems to ignore it was the EBR superintendent who first reported the problems in graduation records to the state DOE last Fall when the new recordkeeping person at Glen Oaks HS first discovered the irregularities in September.
But let's just pretend that didn't happen.

I don't disagree and that's why I used the word seriously to preface my second paragraph. But another point of information, the School System subs out the janitorial and maintenance work in EBR. A private company does all that now.
But I do think we have enough people in administration and at the schools to insure kids who graduate really did the work.
And again like I said, I'm critical of Taylor for his responses to date more so than I am for the fact the administration seems to have been corrupted.

Again, thanks for the help. I'll tell let my psychiatrist what you said and maybe he'll fix the problem. If he can't there's always surgery.

"It is not a failure of the system in terms of policies and procedures, errors and mistakes were made," Taylor said. Taylor says the audit was conducted because in May 2013, a student at Glen Oaks was approved for graduation, but the student's transcript shows they didn't have enough credits.

Self reported???
This article says it was a whistleblower who got an investigation started ????
Article written on January 8th: LINK
quote:
The state Department of Education will announce Thursday that it is auditing the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, following allegations that students were allowed to cheat in online courses and graduate without meeting requirements, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
quote:
Allegations provided to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, documented by a whistleblower in the district, describe lax oversight and district policies not being followed when students take online courses.

It's too bad your memory is so poor you can't recall when it all first started.

Too bad I linked an article stating a whistleblower reported problems and that the whistleblower's report led to the state audit.
In case you missed it, I will link it again for your convenience.

Do you have a link stating the state audit began for another reason? It would be convenient for others if you did.

I think that someone missed the point of your postings. You pointed out that the board president essentially said that we need to get to the bottom of this and that you think a reputable firm should do a more extensive review. I think that we would all agree to that. But I think some people here are unset with some of the original quotes -- not yours -- that seem to deny the existence of a problem. I would agree that if fraud is involved, someone needs to be at least fired and maybe prosecuted, depending on what actually happened. Incompetence may require a different solution.
