Degree would pretty much serve the purpose of giving my company an ability to say most of their workers have degrees.
Would you a prefer a degree to bank for future job possibilities/career change or want to enrich your current life?

Great thread. I'm 29 and my post 9/11 is about to furnish me a degree. I don't know what the frick I want to do though.

Have a solid position at a strong company. May be able to earn full tuition

didn't have to pay your tuition, what would you choose to major in?
You think they might want to pay for you to get a degree in another field?

Because its a free education and I could take as much time as I want to. I would only take 1-2 classes per semester
Then I would do accounting or finance, could help you out alot with investing and retirement.

But part of me is on the same page as you. Since I've been out for so long, what would be an easy degree?
I see the appeal of an "easy" degree, but if you're only able to take a couple of classes each semester, I'd really give some serious thought to working toward an undergrad that would open up your ability to be employable.
Engineering, accounting, nursing, et. al.

You are too old to put up with the bullshite involved with an engineering degree.
It's doable but it sucks so much arse.

Law School. It's easy, cheap, and jobs are plentiful!

ISDS might be something to look at if you are decent at math and comfortable with light programming.

I enjoy the company I work for (for the most part). They would give me as much time as I needed to get my degree, and pay for it (as long as I didn't completely screw up).
My thinking is it would be very beneficial to have an engineering degree, and would definitely give me opportunities that my current company couldn't offer. For loyalty sake, moving to a different company would be REALLY difficult.
The other side of it is to go generic/simple as possible and bank on this company forever.
For the record, I feel playing it safe would be the most obvious answer IF I had to pay my own tuition

the guy is basically saying he just needs a degree. he is in a solid company already. i dont know what he does but he stays with this company for the long haul, an engineering degree might be pretty worthless.
a finance, accounting, or business degree would probably be more suitable and rewarding

Accounting, engineering, finance, construction management, or a science.

If you took two classes per semester (fall, spring, summer), that would take you seven freaking years to graduate. I'm assuming you have no college credits.

Construction management. You can learn to do something that may actually pay off for you down the road in your own home.

The best laid plans of mice & men often go awry. OP, I feel you on your attitude toward your present company, but plenty of great employers have hit hard times & folded.
You need to pursue a degree for YOU and not for them.

Sounds like a business degree concentrating in the needs of your employer, accounting, marketing, management, etc.
Good luck, go for it son. Wish I would have done so.

I have to deal with alot of math in my line of work. Specifically alot of trig, calculus, and geometry.
Thanks for all of the replies. So far I'm leaning toward some field of engineering

My only advice to you is to get a BS in something. You may think you will never use it, but you NEVER can predict what life may or may not throw at you. That degree can never be taken away from you and can lead to so many more opportunities somewhere along the road.
I have a BS degree that I don't think necessarily does much for me, but I think it will benefit somewhere in the near future (long story).
It's never too late. Get in the frame of mind to do it, and kick any challenges in the balls. Always tell yourself you are gonna do it, and get it done.
