frick em. frick em all. These are grown arse men. Act like it. Plenty of players negotiate contracts without bitching and complaining like this. For the 100th time he can play under the tag, sign a contract for the amount of the tag or maybe up to a million over for a few years or he can be traded.

I don't understand why that's controversial to say. The guy just isn't worth over 9 million dollars to this team. He's not, we can't afford it, and we dont need to. Theres no reason for us to blow so much money on a receiver. Drew and the oline need the money. They'll make the rest of the team look good. with the new rookie rules I'll take a couple picks or a high pick and a player for him.

I agree with Breesus

Jimmy is one of the best offensive weapons in the game, but if he wants too much money, trade him to the Raiders for their 1st round pick. I love Jimmy but if we overpay for him we won't be able to sign players like Byrd anymore. Well have to cut Evans or Grubbs...it's just not good business.

We can keep improving the D and get some play making WRs and be SB contenders or we can sign Jimmy and be an 8-8 team for most of his career.

That's not going to happen. The Saints will never trade him to the Falcons and they should as hell aren't giving up two 1st rounders....especially #6 in 2014.

He shouldn't get a penny over the tag price and I'd take a trade for him in a heartbeat. Sure up the oline, trade graham, get another solid tight end opposite Watson. Championship

Agree 100%.

And you have to expect them to ride and out and put media pressure on the team.

You're an intelligent poster who should realize that. You're taking it personally. No players like the tag, and they were going to fight it.

It's all business. Graham wants to be here

I get what Breesus is saying. He just values Jimmy differently than many others do. Sure he gets extreme, but that's what he does. He's fricking hardcore man.

I find myself a bit in the middle on it, just like I did with Roman. They're both good players but both have extreme strengths and deficiencies. I wanted to keep Harper just like I want to keep Jimmy. At the same time I don't want to over pay Jimmy like with did with Harper.

there's a difference between media pressure and a grown man wining. That I won't change my stand on.

I'm not taking anything personally. There are very legit arguments to both sides keeping him or letting him go. I can't stand when people can't see that.and thanks for the compliment you know I get riled up sometimes

I agree with your second paragraph and I think just about everyone else here does as well.

But really, who cares what these grown arse men have to say. I don't follow them for the type of people they are I follow them because they play football in the NFL for the Saints.

If he wants to bitch, sure that sucks but lets not trade him or get rid of him for that. The FO and agents are doing the real work right now, he's just a side show to the negotiating room.

Haha pick up golf?

I know you are well intentioned, but sometimes I step back and think if this was Justin Bieber and a girl came to me and says ooo hes bitching about his contract to play on some tour or some shite. I would be like who gives a frick, I bet he still plays. I try not to go full TMZ on my favorite athletes, but you're right in the offseason the need for satisfaction is HIGH and the things to get me there are low.

We are all on the same team even when it's the offseason.

a 1st and a 3rd this year and im all for packing graham
or standard price two 1s if you want to spread it out

the money isnt worth it IMO he is a great recieving threat but im tempted to say it as well....ride the tag or get traded. drew is the only player with the leverage to manipulate the office into what he wants.

the team will be better served with young talent and cheap contracts buying us more time for the other 2nd contract players like Jordan, Vacarro, Hicks, and others. purging and stripping the roster to pay 5 or 6 guys is not how you win in this league.

Another benefit to letting him ride the tag this year is we have no one worth tagging next year(unless Butler blows the frick up). So keep him cheap this year(definitely below either our or his wanted per year avg.) and tag him again for only about $8.5m which is still below the asking price.

What you've stated makes sense but the team is now being shaped into a "win now" mode...and I'm 100% OK with this. Brees only has a few more high level years in him and you take your shot now. We're seeing the same thing happening in Denver.

Unless we get extremely lucky, like the Colts, we'll be a rebuild mode for a while once Brees is gone and they'll be plenty of money to spread around.

I don't think you can expect any rookie recieving that to produce what Graham can in the next few seasons. He's completely worth it for under 8 million

I disagree. I think since Payton has been here we've tried to be a win now AND later team like the Pats.

We pick our spots in FA without going to the extreme, yet still try to find those young gems and develop them.

We're not going to make moves that risk us losing Vaccaro or Jordan or guys like that.
