The local franchisee had five stores at one time:
Kenner
Metairie
Westbank
Slidell
UNO
I think Katrina may have been the cause of the Slidell location. Not sure about the others.
The tax problems were confined to 10 stores in Kansas - it was state tax that was the issue. Wikipedia says there were 36 stores as of 2012, so the chain was still viable and it probably still is. We can only hope.

RIP Taco Tico...haven't been there in 12 years or so.

I had a Chalmation tell me they had one in da parish.
Also didn't sound like tax reason are the reason. Kennerbrah has a drive thru and that's why it's staying. I guess in 1966 drive thru places weren't popular yet.
In the little time I was there yesterday I had to see a dozen people come in and ask what the heck was going on. Place will be missed.

I had no idea that there's a Taco Tico in Kennah. Is it on Williams??
