They should go after Joe Spatafora at Farmerville. He has done a very good job getting that program back up.

Coach Spat is an up and coming coach that is going to be a good one.

He has a similar football philosphy to Shows. Tough defense & smash-mouth offense.

He would be on my short list.

Rumor is Guy LeCompte at Mandeville will be contacted. he had been talking to Shows. Guy winning with little D1 talent would dominate and keep West monroe where they have been for the last 25 years..

I think just about every WM fan would be on board with McCarty, but there is no way I see him walking away from what he built at Neville. He restored that program to prominence, is still young, comes across well with the media, and is liked by the fan base.

He restored that program to prominence

When did they leave prominence?

For the high standards of Neville, there was definitely a decade of disappointment.

No offense meant regarding the state of the Neville program. When the Tigers dropped from the highest football classification and when they attempted to fill the HUGE shoes of legendary coach Charlie Brown, it wasn't the same brand of football high school fans in Northeast Louisiana had grown to expect and respect. Bastrop began asserting itself and for a while, Neville wasn't the feared opponent that it had been for decades, and that it is now.
Coach McCarty, along with the support of an alumni base that refuses to allow that school to wallow in the mess that is the city of Monroe school system, has the Tiger program back to the point where they can beat anyone on any given day.
As a long-time West Monroe fan, I believe he is the very best coach around and will keep Neville where it is, as long as he wants. I hate the fact West Monroe will never have him, but also respect him for that very reason.

This. He would dominate at WM IMO. Great strength coach as well.

He's good, but pales in comparison to Casey Sanders.

Eh..I mean I think he'd fit WM system very well personally. I don't know too much about casey sanders though.

Ah makes sense now. Spatafora is a pretty good powerlifting coach as well if I'm correct he's won a crazy amount of state titles in that area from what I've heard and read.

I found it a little ironic that Scott Stone spoke at Coach Shows memorial service.

Coach Shows and Coach Stone always seemed to have a 'love-hate' relationship.

It always seemed to me that Coach Shows looked at Stone as his heir-apparent to the WM football HC position.

Stone was supposed to be his successor. Shows flat out said as much in the paper when Stone quit to become an assistant principal. Shows wanted 300 wins and said Scotty could have it after that, but Stone needed to be a principal for three years to get a larger retirement.
