Hogs for the Cause Questions - paging BlackenedOut or anybody else in the know

Planning on going for the first time this year? Is the music stage setup similar to Jazz Fest where there is a sectioned off area to setup chairs and such?
How much does the food and beer usually run at each vendor? Trying to determine if it will be justifiable to buy the boss hog pass instead or regular admission.
Any other tips/advice for this event is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to it.

Not nearly has a cluster frick around the stages. I've never bought the boss hog pass and have had a wonderful time each year.

So they do allow people to setup chairs?

That's good to know. So how much do things cost on average out there?

Cheap samples from teams. I don't recall the beer prices, but I've never heard anyone complain prices were too high.

I have never purchased the "Boss Hog" pass, so I cannot speak regarding that.
I remember the food was in the $3-$7 range for most stuff. A few samples will fill you up. Beer prices were $4-$5. I remember them offering Nola Blonde and Brown.
Definitely go and pray for no rain. It's one of my favorite New Orleans events.
ETA: My girlfriend and I both had our debit card numbers ripped off out there. I only had $70 worth of fraudulent charges, but she had close to $300 in fraudulent charges. Both of our banks traced it back to the Hogs for a Cause ATM machines. So, in short, I'd have cash handy.

12 Pence, sorry to hear about your debit issues. Im going to contact our ATM guy right now and make sure this doesnt happen again.
This year you'll purchase food tickets and drink tickets which you can then use to get food or drink. Food tickets will be in $1 increments and drink tickets in $2 increments.
Food pricing is up to the individual teams but usually ranges between 3-8 tickets. Hoggy Snacks and non pork vendors will be in that range as well.
For drinks, cokes/water/iced tea will be $2 (1 drink ticket), Nola blonde and Brown $4(2 drink tickets), specialty NOLA cans and draft, Hogtails, and glasses of wine are $6 (3 drink tickets), and bottles of wine are $20(10 drink tickets)
Yes on chairs/blankets and whatever eles you bring in. No outside food or drink. Stage 2 this year is inside a large tent which will have its own tables and chairs, kind of like a beerhall or juke joint.

I enjoyed the sloppy year.
Sorry to hear about the tickets.

It doesnt. Teams hated it. The main reason the Boss Hog pass is much reduced this year.

F U for doing this in Lent.

It's a Saturday! The teams only have pork samples on Saturday, so you are good. Trust me, I read Catholics can eat meat on Saturdays in Lent on the internet.

I assume you meant 10 drink tickets for the bottles of wine.
Thanks for all the info! Very much looking forward to attending!

Then you should have it Saturday, Sunday. That way I can have the alcohol I'm giving up on Sunday.

Yeah our insurance team and banking people pretty much had a stroke when they learned how we were doing cash management.
You can buy hoggy dollars at both entrance gate trailers and at three locations on site, so hopefully it wont be too much of a burden.

Is re-entry allowed at the event? Just noticed that the Louisiana Derby is the same day as this event.
Edited to add: Just noticed on the website that re-entry is only allowed with a Boss Hog pass.

Have you all put in any thought to setting up a little viewing area to watch March Madness out there on that Saturday?
It could be similar to what the Blues & BBQ Festival does when they setup a little makeshift sports bar for LSU & Saints games during their festival.
Posted on 3/10/14 at 9:30 am to Hat Tricks
There are always a few teams out there with satellites, big screen tvs, and viewing areas to watch the madness unfold. We just dont do anything specifically, since so many of our teams do it already.
