Should there be a "sin" tax on coke? I am mixed. On the hand it is an impediment on people right to consumer choice. On the other hand, fat is a burden on the health system.
Slippery slope. What's next? Red meat? Potato chips? Bacon?
If you allow the gov't to regulate what you can and cannot eat through taxation, IMO that is giving people far too much power over your personal life.
STDs are very costly on the health system too. Maybe they should tax sex as well?

Sugar is delicious and natural. I don't see the problem.

We should have a "cake tax" too. It's just a loaf of sugar bread slathered in sugar and fat.

Probably not. I don't there is an algorithm regarding proportionality that make such a tax fair. Still, people's horrible decision making regarding consumption is frustrating. Would be nice to figure out a solution to keep the kids from playing with the electrical outlets.

Let them get one good shock. If they're smarter than a hunk of dog poo they won't do it again.

One thing I've never understood, is why the the OT hates fat people, but doesn't feel the same about people with AIDS. They're both, for the most part, preventable, and a result of their lifestyle choice.

I wonder if the reporter consumes alcohol as well?

It's really just fermented sugar. We need the gov't to make sure we don't hurt ourselves.

I like how he acts like he's catching the CEO in some sort of lie / breaking some news.

Paxman is no average journalist
He is a boss, embarrasses politicians as and when he likes.
The story behind is beard is both fascinating and sad

Didn't read the link, but I'm guessing the reporter's premise is that the obesity epidemic in the US is Coca-Cola's fault in part?
Fat people, stop shoveling carbs into your trap. No one takes responsibility for shite nowadays.

I'm pretty sure the OT hates AIDS victims equally. It's just that fatties have been getting more attention the last few years.

Last thing you want is the government dictating what you eat via taxes. Though, now that they're running our health insurance, I could see it happening. That and Moochelle telling schools what they can and can't serve.
