but some of these guys are TAKES by major programs based on the current info. and some prospects will choose to commit to these schools.

In some instances, they may be takes to possibly land a bigger fish at the same HS. I'm not sure if LSU is quite as desperate to offer somebody just to get the bigger fish, and I don't think they really have to be.

NO, we are not late on the evaluations but to the extent we are asking a guy to come to camp then we have not made a DEFINITIVE judgement on that prospect.

If we want to evaluate further, it's to track progress or see how they recieve coaching at a specific position.

Is this your first year following recruiting?

It's not even just that. A kid like Capers-Smith may not ever recieve an LSU offer but is high enough on A&Ms board that they will take him knowing he'll be locked down without much of a fight.

Definitely sounds like it

quote:

LSU (as well as other school that want to recruit la.) will have to make EVALUATIONS (not necessarily offer) earlier

explain to me how they are supposed to make an evaluation earlier on a kid that wants to play WR that has NEVER played WR in high school? Because I know what your response to this is going to be, OOS schools give in to recruits' needs earlier because they have ground to make up

"as i have stated proviously, LSU will not be able to wait and see these guys at camp."

if a prospect is not a take based on the current info. then thats the staff's decision and that is PERFECTLY understandable. but some of these guys are TAKES by major programs based on the current info. and some prospects will choose to commit to these schools. this is not a criticism of LSU or anyone.

what is it? sounds like talking in circles. Chime in with lsu wont be able to wait then it's ok?

some schools may only take 1 slot wr,

What's a slot WR? You're either a receiver or you're not. Who was our slot receiver this year?

First off, how many receivers do we really need? Secondly LSU wants him at corner, he wants to play slot. May just work out best for both sides. Plus Johnson is the best WR in the state, shouldnt we focus there and the O/D lines? We did get dupree and quinn last cycle.

I'm suspecting that they plan on throwing a lot in the future by the way they are going. I'm also suspecting more 3 and 4 wr sets too. They also seem to be going NFL size too.

2014
Dural
Peterson
Spears
Leslie
Dupre
Quinn
Upchurch
Chark

2015 we are expecting to get three or four more, so you are looking at 10-11 for 2015 on roster (Leslie will be gone)

Dural can leave this year, I'm guessing Peterson can too, but they don't because neither would be drafted.

Then you see the consecutive years of big, athletic pass catching TEs, and you start seeing the pattern of a big pass offense emerging. They are going after weapons, and big weapons at that. We may offer a Noil or Dillion just to get them away from the competition, but I'm seeing our offensive philosophy starting to shape.

I wonder how much of the uptempo we run in the spring?

He was in two WR sets most of the time.

Because he was the best WR on the field

When we ran 3 and 4 WR sets, (sometimes with DeSean smith split wide), where was landry?

In the slot

If you don't know what a slot receiver is, everyone is wasting their time arguing with you
