First off, how many receivers do we really need? Secondly LSU wants him at corner, he wants to play slot. May just work out best for both sides. Plus Johnson is the best WR in the state, shouldnt we focus there and the O/D lines? We did get dupree and quinn last cycle.

Some people just can't seem to grasp the political aspects behind offering in-state kids. You have to be ready to accept their commitment or else a shite-storm will ensue.

So, whether they're lower on the board, or the coaches want to evaluate their development, it doesn't mattter, more things need to happen before we would be willing to accept their commitment.

not saying LSU will be pressured into offering a prospect. just stating the obvious, if you don't offer early then you will lose some of these guys. if LSU doesn't mind losing some then its a non-event. not questioning whether or not any prospect should be offered. just a general view of the trend in la. recruiting.

You point your opinion as criticism of the coaching staff and then claim its a general view on trends in Louisiana. It can't be both. I don't know if you're too stupid to know the difference or just feel like bitching about the coaches, but either way, it's not needed.

Exactly. I say this all the time.

People flip their shite because so many LA prospects are offered by a&m, Florida, Alabama, etc..and wonder why LSU doesn't offer.

We do the same out of state.

You can't hand out an "offer" to an instate recruit and give them the bad news when he wants to commit

My opinion is that the coaches who have 2+ decades of experience probably know more than me and you, so I won't criticize or bitch because they aren't doing something that you of all people expect them to do

This

As of right now, they probably have a few in-state guys above Dillon because they know what those kids bring to the position, while they haven't seen any of Dillon at WR.

A lot of in-state kids will jump at an LSU offer so the coaches have to be sure that if they offer an in-state kid that he is worthy of the offer right then, not 3 weeks down the road

you guys are misunderstanding everything. i am only stating the obvious. some recruits (see charlot & capers-smith) will get quality offer early and will accept them. they are commitable offers to other schools. therefore, LSU (as well as other school that want to recruit la.) will have to make EVALUATIONS (not necessarily offer) earlier. if you don't offer, then SOME prospects will choose to accept commitable offers from other schools rather than wait to camp at LSU. this is not a criticism of anyone. we all see it happening now.

Well, they offered C Rob, hootie, speedy, willis etc in their Jr. year. Still didn't get them. I don't think it matters when you offer. If the kid wants to play for you, he is going to choose you now or later. we were the first to offer tony brown, bama was late to the party and still got him.

If this kid is all that and a box of rocks, then he's going to have many choices and people will wait on him vs him waiting on them.

Some of these guys take the early offer as leverage or one in the bush and flip when or if they get the offer they want, ie peleli and Williams last year. One flipped to osu and the other flipped to Lsu

We just finished with the #2 class last cycle, we currently have the #2 class and people still think the staff doesn't know what they're doing.

You don't seem to understand. Those two specific players have teammates with offers, do you really think we watched film on just one player on each team and ignored the others?

Get it through your thick fricking skull, we aren't late on evaluations.

Just because he doesn't have an offer yet doesn't mean LSU isn't high on him. He has been invited to numerous camps, JR days and been on several unofficial visits to LSU.

LSU is not dropping the ball on him. Just because he has an offer from A&M doesn't mean anything. He will get the offer when he and LSU are ready for the offer.

NO, we are not late on the evaluations but to the extent we are asking a guy to come to camp then we have not made a DEFINITIVE judgement on that prospect. if a prospect is not a take based on the current info. then thats the staff's decision and that is PERFECTLY understandable. but some of these guys are TAKES by major programs based on the current info. and some prospects will choose to commit to these schools. this is not a criticism of LSU or anyone. we may find a better prospect oos.
