OT lawyers: Labor laws question

I am hired by a company. I often work between 2 chain stores in neighboring cities on the same days. I work at store A from 8-12:30 and store B from 1-6.
Store A and Store B have 2 different managers. When I was going through the hiring process, Manager A told me that I would be compensated in pay for time and gas $ when going between the stores (12:30-1). It takes me the entire half hour to make the trip and I am also transporting inventory from store A to store B in the process.
Manager B calls manager A to tell him that I should not be getting paid for the travel time between stores, nor should I be compensated for gas. Manager B declares that my transportation of inventory is a "favor" I am doing since I am making the drive anyway.
Is manager B doing anything illegal here ? Is there a law or anything I can show her to help me with my case that I should be getting compensated here?

If you're making a delivery, you will Likely be considered in course and scope and you should be getting paid, IMO. But I don't do labor law and on mobile so no idea what state you're in.

well then deny the favor without compensation.

Probably not, prickish though, yes.
Being in a corporate environment, the less money he gives you means the more money on his yearly bonus.

You should be able to write off the mileage between the stores. You cannot write off the mileage for the commute.
Manager B is a dick and an idiot.

Pursuant to the FLSA you are at work while driving from one job site to another. Keep track of your unpaid hours. 3 year statute of limitations.

As others have said, you should be getting paid. You can probably find the exact law on the DOL website.
