Why should they be grateful he even showed up there?

Curtis, WM, Acadiana all run the option.

Bc they hadn't won a playoff game in years and were terrible until salt showed up

So pretty much like challmette, right ?

Kind of like that... They will at least have a year with "his" kids for the new coach unlike us...

Bottom line is that it's not easy to win at Chalmette or EJ and he did. Good hire IMO.

IMO someone who does something like that and goes behind a schools back then I wouldn't want anyone like that around my program, just my opinion.
Yep, Alabama made a bad hire when they hired Nick Saban. That guy was in the middle of a solid contract with the Miami Dolphins. I mean, he even said that he would not be the next coach at Alabama.

word is that EJ had fired him bc he never disclosed he was applying
Is that why the EJ principal went to HHS to talk to the principal about not hiring him?

Veer offense is a really good offense to run in high school.
It was created for teams with smaller, quicker OL. Its a quick play and the OL only have the hold the block for a quick second and the RB is past them.
And most DL is high school arent that disciplined. They fire off the ball and get up field like a wild man and not making any reads. The FB trap destroys teams like this. A DL gets up field, it creates a natural hole and he basically took himself out the play by running up field.
Only way to really stop the veer offense is for the DL to hold their blocks and not run up field, LBs cant fall for all the fakes, and DBs cant get caught napping back there because all of a sudden the QB will pull it and hit the WR or TE on a pop pass that will go the distance.
It takes discipline and football IQ to stop the veer offense, and not a lot of high school players and teams are capable of doing that.

I can remember my junior year at HC when we played Shaw. I took one step to read my keys and Mickey Joseph was already 30 yards down the field. That was a tough night on the Wank.

Well Salt is inheriting a team that's not real big on the line but has plenty of fast guys. His system could work and the one thing he will have in his favor starting out is people here are ready for the change and most I've talked to wanted him. We will see.
I know there were more than a few kids who were not going to play again if they hired from within; a couple of the parents of good Freshmen were even talking transferring to Curtis or somewhere if that happened.

And we question why kids leave the state to play for other SEC schools. I knew I wanted to play for HC bc it was in my blood no matter who the coach was. I had my dad, brothers, uncles, cousins and even my future brother in law all go there.

Used to be that way here, now half of our parish is Metairie and NOLA natives who wanted to get out of those areas.
