some posters are stating that o'bryant, martin and mickey will all leave after this year. really, if the pro game will take these guys high enough, then what kind of game is being played? basically, it's pro wrestling. Great athletes performing athletic feats but without "game" skills.
Do these guys ever consider building a career? or do they just want a fast buck.
JOB could come back next year, dominate, and have all the confidence in the world to grow into a great pro career.
mickey and martin - same thing. they need to get really good at what they have chosen at in their profession. they are raw. easier to learn your craft at this level.
I don't care a whit for the pro game. it's a trash sport. this is why. the pros take these kids who don't know how to play basketball but are superb athletes. problem - they never learn how to play basketball.
kobe Bryant's and LeBron james make it big, I know, but are they great basketball players are just the best athletes on the court?

Then some posters are wrong, but I haven't seen this once.
Most believe that JOB is gone and that is it.

You're criticizing them for hypothetically leaving early. Created something to be pissed about in your head. Amazing. DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN.

Come on man...kobe especially is a great player and lebron is making his case. I agree they are superior athletes but if this was the only factor then usain bolt would be an NBA allstar.

It is like the LAPD, and can't beat anyone on the road? (old joke from Rodney King days and basketball team at the time which had same road woes) Almost caused a do the right thing riot in BR and did shut down Lymon Whites Wings for a few hours.

It's clearly evident that you have no idea what professional scouts look for in any sport, not just basketball. Watch any draft, NFL, NBA, MLB, it doesn't matter. What you will see is outstanding athletes being taken early and often. Why? Because a coach can't teach a guy to be 6'10" with incredible leaping ability. He can't teach a guy to be 6'4" and run a 4.3 40. He can't teach a guy to throw 95 mph.
Hard work, practice and coaching can hone great skill at a particular sport. Freak athletic ability is God given and hard to find. Every professional scout, coach and GM knows this. Otherwise the Danny Wurffel's and J.J. Reddick's would be No.1 draft picks, not the Tyrus Thomases of the world.
Why would you "build a career" for free when there is someone willing to pay you 6-7 figures to do so? I'm sure there are plenty of working folks who would say "No, no, you can keep the salary. I'm going to spend these next few years working for free. You can pay me later."
If only there was a way to put the "best athletes" such as LeBron and Kobe on the same court with those super-skilled players such as Luke Harangody. THEN maybe we could find out who the best basketball players are.

That was the plan this year, but definitely not the case. He was arguably better when the only low post scoring option and his effort appears super varied so until he plays like he did against UK on the reg, he'll be solid but not amazing whether he comes back for his senior year or ends up eating a last nba roster spot or playing in the D league or overseas somewhere.

I don't see that happening this year. Not tall enough and this is an insanely deep draft.

JOB is gone, the other 2 are not! That's crazy...
Now back to the thread title. Here's the problems:
We shoot too many 3's when we have supposedly one of the top back courts in the nation.
We allow too many offensive rebounds and extra shots b/c we don't block out.
We play lazy for 30 minutes of the game.
Coach plays the wrong guys for too long, and he keeps us in man when we're in foul trouble instead of playing a safe zone.
Coach also plays our shittiest shooters when we are getting fouled and being sent to the line. Quarterman shouldn't be in the game when it's close and we're in the bonus.

I am the one who started this topic. I have broached this topic because a writer on a premium site indicated that all three of them had the desire to leave. It was not said that they will, but they are certainly looking at it.

pro scouts take the best athletes cause there aren't any great athletes who know how to play anymore. they've all left early in the draft before learning how to play basketball.
pro sports - professional wrestling by any other name, are or have ruined college athletics. they've destroyed college with the one and done.
great athletes had to stay in school and learn to play.
now it's happening in football. guys leave before they dominate their position.
guys who were good enough - reid, ojb, hill, landry, etc.
No, I don't blame the kids for wanting the money now. you can't expect a kid to see that far into the future and think about being as successful as they can be in their career. Money in the hand now is success. not long-term, but it's success.
approx. 90 guys in the first 3 rounds of the nfl draft, and that's how many juniors are leaving. we probably aren't that far from allowing them to go after 2 years - that will equalize the football teams, won't it?

Lots of folks felt Mickey and Martin were going to be one and done type of players. I think they were wrong.

You dont know what you are talking about. How many all-star caliber players in the NBA graduated college?
Posted on 2/14/14 at 11:42 am to RogerTheShrubber
People who said Martin would be one-and-done were almost exclusively talking out of their arse based on how highly he was rated. He was and is very raw (with unbelievable upside).
I don't recall anyone at all thinking Mickey would bail after one year.

have you seen a lot of the players who get drafted? raw with unbelievable upside. not sure how you can say somebody was talking out of their arse by saying that. JOBIII is probably the least attractive of the 3 to NBA scouts and he is the one yall are expecting to go pro. I can see all 3 leaving and I can also see all 3 staying. I don't think anybody has a good guess as to what they will do.
