Jamey Johnson played Ben Dorcy Day last week. That was the first time I had ever seen him and he was great. Also a SUPER nice guy, which I didn't expect based on what I heard about him.

Co-Writer and Randy Houser came up with the ghey arse phrase..
Regardless, if my profession is to write songs and I get paid for doing it, I don't think I'm going to be too choosy on what I write for people.

Has JJ come out with a song of his own even remotely close to the sound of that crap??

Don't worry.. I'll wait

Jason Boland, Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue.

Check those guys out.I'm not a country fan, but I've bene pulled to their shows over the years, and actually had a pretty good time with my friends. Could've been that I was also drunk though.

I haven't really dug deep into their catalog, but I remember not being too crazy about some of their newer stuff. I love that song though

Give it time.

Although, deep down, don't we all want to sleep with Lovey? He's a roadie hall-of-famer! Waylon wrote a song about him! Dude's a legend.

Well, then you're obviously queer. Only logical explanation I can come up with.

Surprisingly enough, I've never been. I toss around the idea every year but I never commit. It's really expensive, so I'd essentially be paying a whole bunch of money to get drunk with the same people I drink with on a regular basis in a colder climate. I'm sure I'll pull the trigger on it someday, but I see most of those guys play all the time and am friends with a lot of them, too.

It's probably really awesome for folks who don't live around here or who are just fans. It kind of sucks as a friend, because unless you are a girlfriend or a wife, you're not getting an AA wristband, so it's super hard to spend any time with your buddies. Dickson Productions runs a tight ship.

While I somewhat agree with what you just said, Garth was a big fricking deal, crossover wise. He was reaching different audiences because he blurred the line more than before. And I don't really hold it against the guy, get up, get out, and get it, but he laid out a blueprint for printing money for aspiring country acts and it has devolved from there.

Country music is alive and well. Outback isn't the only place to get a steak

If nothing else this topic has been a great way to find acts I've never heard of.

Country music was always about heartache

Not about trucks, drinking beer in the field, and other laundry list bull shite radio country acts sing about these days.

That's just pop music with a twang

However, for those of you who think "old country is good country," give a listen to Willie's Roadhouse. They can play some AWFUL stuff on that station.

Absolutely, although his last album was a bit of a dud for me.....

yeah Fullbright is not the country he seems to be referring to, but Gawd Above is a great tune.

With the strong movement of pop country over the past few years
If you don't just get nauseous looking at Brantley of Bradley Gilbert(not sure of first name, they come and go quick) you really don't like country music.

I have found some of the writing buddies or Miranda Lambert, namely Brandy Clark to be some damn good country. Much more old school woman style than anything the men are putting out.

You have to suffer few some "I am a crazy bitch' type songs to appeal to the masses...but they have some good stuff.

My dude Ev! Nicest guy in the world but a total awkward turtle.

I feel like I will make it there at some point because I probably want to go once. I actually got offered a pass this year but it was super short notice...I would have had to ride up with the band and I couldn't just drop everything for 12 days to make the trip. Sucks because it was essentially free.
