Depends on the Dr. My OB-GYN I know sometimes I will be waiting longer if she is at the hospital with a delivery(which has happened before and I was offered to see the NP instead).

I don't really go to the dr except for wellness exams and i usually schedule those for his first apt.
If I have to go for any other reason I try to schedule as early as possible, less likely to have to wait

I don't go to the doctor.
The doctor comes to me.

the last 3 times I went to the doc with my son, I waited from 930 to 145 on average.
they wanted to schedule a follow up and she asked what's a good time for me. I asked her what time they close. she said 5pm. I said I want a 430 appt.

Usually about 5-15 minutes. My docs like me cause I don't argue over $30 bills.

Doctors are very important people. You should wait hours if you have to.
Posted on 1/31/14 at 5:45 pm to nevilletiger79
Usually no more than 10 minutes and that's rare.

There's few things more frustrating than waiting in a doctor's office for long after your appointment time. I don't know of any other profession that people would sit in a waiting room for hours after your appointment but people will return routinely knowing you will go through he same thing again?!

You should always get up and say something after 30 mins of waiting.

i went on dec 23 just to get a damn shot. waited 2 hours and 45 minutes. im usually a pretty patient guy but i was damn near losing my shite, especially when a person that came in like an hour after me got called in.

Worked for an Ortho Trauma Unit for about 6yrs... on call and we had a clinic m-w-f b/c we tried to schedule most surgeries on t-tr. our avg waiting time was at least 2hrs for the most part. our wait time depending on the amount of work did we on our patients. ex: someone whose wrist we had to reduce and cast took a total of about 1.5-2hrs. Consisted of bringing you back, take vitals, do a review of your info/exam etc etc... Then I move you into our cast room... you get an injection in the wrist, get reduced, get casted.... takes about 2hrs. I'm the first to admit that its a long time to wait and its bad for patients, but what do you do when no one else will see these people. We saw everyone, and the hospital ran in the negative for 2yrs in a row. People don't pay bills, want health care for free and expect it and don't give a shite about their credit rating. Point is you get in a shite storm if you tell someone no and this is the kind of crap you deal with.

Sometimes waiting is necessary bc different patients have different needs. We are not playing monopoly between patients. But I agree, your wait time does seem too excessive.
