So, has anyone heard anything new about a potential move for Jozy before the deadline?

Sunderland are apparently willing to sell at a vastly reduced rate, but no tangible offers yet.

They have an American player complex. It makes me laugh considering that their own league's best teams rely pretty much primarily on foreigners for a reason.

Which of our players should they respect in comparison to their best players? I'm having trouble thinking of any other than Howard and Guzan.

They have at least 5 strikers better than anyone we can field. Maybe 8-10 midfielders, though some are debatable. 6 defenders.

Jozy flaming out so miserably is kind of a big deal considering last year he was considered one of our best players and that no other USMNT players are making any kind of noise right now in Europe.

If they wanted to play the "Americans are shite card" their national team needs to not be irrelevant for 65 years. At least the French can back up their arrogance with success in the modern era. Just because they're slightly more above average than we are doesn't put them in the elite class they think they belong in. Newsflash England, we both suck.

Firstly, his time at Hell is entirely irrelevant to his performance as a player at Sunderland. Secondly, I don't really know why so many people on reddit are tripping over themselves to throw that statistic around. There are so many easier ways to criticize his play. It's lazy and reeks of piling on.

Not even his replacement at AZ?

I don't see that happening in my lifetime IMO. I'm only 20

Then you're too young to have seen just how far soccer has come in this country in the last twenty years. Granted the progress has slowed a bit but that's to be expected.

Indeed. If Spain or Germany is a 100 and India is a 0, the USA has gone from about a 0 to a 60 in the past 30 years. Consistent top 25 nation in the world. A top 10 league, arguably. Assuming 20 year olds now live to be 80 we could easily be in the top tier by the time they die

I don't think there's any way you could reasonably argue that the MLS is a top 10 league.

I love it too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

England
Germany
Spain
Italy
France
Portugal
Netherlands
Turkey
Russia?

Looking top to bottom, I think you could argue it's around the 10th best. Maybe throw in Brazil and I'm struggling to think of others

Again, really?

Have you actually watched a game from either of these leagues in the last 3 years?

These are better than the MLS, no doubt.

Mexican league might be "better" but talk about boring soccer. Two guys lazily passing back and forth under zero pressure until they pass to a third guy who tries to take on three defenders and loses the ball. Repeat process for 89 minutes.

I never claimed to be a pro league evaluator. The question was whether you could argue it being top 10. It's a subjective question, and looking at each league top to bottom, why not?

I love the MLS, and I don't think there's any question that it will be a top 10 league sometime in the not too distant future. Right now, it's just not.

Portugal's a much better league than the MLS. Their clubs always do well in Europe.

Buts it's always the same two clubs.

There are many clubs in that league that are NASL quality.

To me, the MLS's top teams are no where near the top teams of some of the other leagues close to them, but the MLS has a lot more depth IMO.

Not saying MLS is really that close to Portugal, but outside of Benfica, Porto, and Sporting, the rest are shite. Russia has their big money teams in Moscow and that's pretty much it. The same can be said for most leagues
